Shocking discovery of the first tailless comet constellation
European astronomers say they have just discovered the first tailless comet, named Manx.
The composition of this particular constellation may provide clues to further understanding the formation and evolution of the solar system.

The study, published in the American journal Science Advances, said that the comet constellation named Manx (named after a breed of tailless cat) is made of rock and cold ice compounds. These are materials found on Earth. Usually, other tailed comets are formed in cold, dark regions, far away from the Solar System.
In 2014, astronomers discovered the beautiful green comet C/2014 S3 (Lovely Joy). This star is also made of rocks, pebbles and dust held together by a layer of ice made of water and carbon dioxide. As the comet passes close to the Sun, the tail also appears to disappear as the ice evaporates into gas and is blown away by the pressure of the solar wind and sunlight.
Scientists are now looking to see how many comets like Manx exist in the Solar System and how their movements cause their tails to be blown away by the wind.
