Ancient money jar discovered in Hung Dong commune - Vinh city
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of December 29, while gardening, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tung in Yen Vinh hamlet, Hung Dong commune, Vinh city discovered a jar of ancient money with hundreds of coins, estimated to weigh about 10 kg.
The jar was discovered at a depth of about 1.2m, containing many oxidized ancient coins. These are round coins with a square hole in the middle, surrounded by Chinese characters.

According to the assessment of antique research and collection experts, including Mr. Dao Tam Tinh - Director of the provincial library, the jar of money Mr. Tung dug up included coins from the Song Dynasty dating from 960 - 1279. Although thousands of years have passed, many coins still have clearly readable Chinese characters printed on them such as: Nguyen Phong, Thong Bao, Nguyen Huu, Chinh Hoa, etc.

It can be said that this is an ancient coin of historical value, evidence of the very clear cultural exchange between Chinese feudal dynasties and Vietnamese feudal dynasties in the above mentioned locality thousands of years ago.
It is known that the jar of money that Mr. Quang Tung dug up had many antique collectors come to buy, some offered tens of millions of dong, but he did not sell.
