Gray langur discovered in Pu Huong Nature Reserve
(Baonghean) - Recently, Mr. Duong Ngoc Hung - Director of Pu Huong Nature Reserve said: While patrolling, staff of Pu Huong Nature Reserve discovered the call of the gray langur and recorded it.
Mr. Hung also said that after discovering the call of the gray langur, the leaders of the Reserve proposed the activity of "Investigating the density, population size, threat status and establishing an action plan to conserve the gray langur". To prevent this species from being hunted and killed by people, Mr. Hung hopes that many people as well as relevant authorities will support and share with the Reserve information and images of this rare langur species in the reserve.
The gray langur (Trachypithecus phayrei crepusculus) is a primate species distributed in Southeast Asia. However, the number of this species in our country is not much. The gray langur is listed in group IB (exploitation and use are strictly prohibited) of Decree 32/ND-CP dated March 30, 2006 of the Government, Appendix I, of CITES and is classified as endangered in the Vietnam Red Book, endangered in the IUCN Red Book.
