A recent expedition used advanced submarines to explore the famous giant blue hole in Belize and discovered some strange remains.

In December 2018, a team of scientists and explorers embarked on a mission to explore the Great Blue Hole. Among the members of the expedition were a group of scientists and explorers, including billionaire Richard Branson and Fabien Cousteau, the grandson of French explorer Jacques Cousteau, who is believed to have first discovered the hole in the early 1970s.

The giant blue hole in the middle of the ocean still has many mysteries that have not been fully discovered.

Erika Bergman, the person in charge of piloting the submarine, shared that they observed strange traces at the bottom of the hole that they could not determine what they were.

Scientists believe that the tracks could not have been made by any living creature in recent times because there is no oxygen at the bottom of the hole. Due to the uninhabitable conditions, the sea floor of the Great Blue Hole is also covered with long-dead sea creatures.

Researchers now believe that the traces found may be the remains of a geological tectonic process. The Great Blue Hole actually appeared originally as a cave.

About 14,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age, the world began to thaw and sea levels rose dramatically. The cave eventually collapsed and flooded with deep water, much like we see today.

The interior of the pit still has stalagmites, stalactites, and other geological features typically found inside a cave. However, it has undergone many changes over the millennia.

“There are voids on our planet. Most of them are in the oceans. They existed thousands of years ago and will remain exactly the same way thousands of years in the future,” said another researcher.
