Body of Su-22 pilot found after crash
Yesterday afternoon (April 28), search forces recovered part of the fuselage of Su-22 aircraft number 5857 and the body of pilot Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Nghia.
According to the People's Army Newspaper, on the afternoon of April 28, the joint search force recovered the fuselage of the Su-22 aircraft, serial number 5857, along with the body of pilot Le Van Nghia, Deputy Commander of Regiment 937, who died in the plane crash in the waters of Binh Thuan at noon on April 16.
Immediately after recovering the pilot's body and the fuselage, the Search and Rescue Command and the Air Defense - Air Force leadership met and deployed work to deal with the consequences.

Besides, the search for Su-22 aircraft number 5863 and pilot Nguyen Anh Tu is still being actively deployed by forces.
According to Tuoi Tre, the search had to be suspended for many days due to high waves and was only resumed on the morning of April 28.
On April 16, a squadron of 2 Su-22 aircraft (Regiment 937, Division 370) took off from Phan Rang airport to the airspace of Phu Quy island for bombing training and lost contact at 11:35 a.m. (the target loss area in the North of Phu Quy island is about 10-20km).
The two pilots involved in the accident were Le Van Nghia (first-class pilot), piloting Su-22 aircraft, serial number 5857, rank of Lieutenant Colonel, position of Deputy Commander of Regiment 937, Division 370; Pilot Nguyen Anh Tu (third-class pilot), piloting Su-22 aircraft, serial number 5863, rank of Captain, Deputy Squadron Commander of Squadron 1, Regiment 937, Division 370.
The Su-22 is a ground attack aircraft manufactured by the Soviet Union, put into service in the Vietnam Air Force since 1979. Since then, there have been 3 accidents involving this type of aircraft.
