At around 6:30 a.m. on July 7, people in Khanh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An were on their way to the rice fields to weed when they suddenly discovered a strange smell coming from an abandoned house located on National Highway 7. After a while of searching, they were shocked to find a dead man in a sitting position in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Immediately afterwards, the people informed the commune police and local authorities to come and examine the scene. Thereby, the victim was identified as Mr. Le Duc Dai, born in 1987, residing in Hamlet 5, Dien Yen Commune, Dien Chau District, Nghe An.
