The Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Groups in Con Cuong District was first held in 1993. After that very successful opening, the District People's Committee decided to maintain it as a traditional festival so that every year, ethnic groups from all over the district have the opportunity to gather in large numbers in the town to exchange and compete in the fields of culture, arts and sports. The festival was assigned by the District People's Committee to the Center for Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the District Youth Union to organize on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26).

In 2007, the People's Committee of Con Cuong district decided to upgrade the Cultural - Sports Festival of ethnic groups to a more grand scale. There were 30 units with more than 1,000 non-professional actors and athletes participating in the festival, not to mention thousands of spectators in the district and tourists attending. The content and program of this year's festival took place over 3 days (from March 26 to 28), with diverse activities such as: Con Cuong Youth Camp, mass art performances, ethnic costume beauty contest and 12 sports competitions: throwing con, pushing sticks, tug of war, crossbow shooting, badminton, volleyball, football, chess, table tennis... In addition to 13 communes and towns, 17 agencies and units in the area such as Border Guard Station 555, Battalion 19, Pu Mat National Park, Ethnic Minority High School, Department of Education, District General Hospital, Agricultural Bank, Con Cuong Forestry Farm, etc. also sent art troupes and athletes to compete in sports to create a more exciting and attractive festival atmosphere.

Mass performance at the festival.
It is worth noting that: although the festival lasted continuously for 3 days and nights with a large number of visitors, security and order were ensured very well. Another success was that the festival aroused the movement, awareness of preserving and promoting traditional cultural beauty. The evidence is that in the mass art competition, the majority of the performances selected by the units to compete were traditional folk songs. In the exhibition booths of the units participating in the festival, many typical products of the ethnic people were also introduced.

such as brocade, specialty products, musical instruments: gongs, flutes and daily necessities of the people...

According to many people, Con Cuong is one of the few mountainous districts that still preserves many unique traditional cultural features and organizing and maintaining such an annual festival not only creates spiritual "feasts" for the people but also contributes to raising people's awareness a lot. Talking to us, comrade Nguyen Huy Chuong - Director of the district's Center for Culture, Sports and Tourism said: The Center is having the idea of consulting with the district People's Committee to draft a project to build Con Cuong into one of the mountainous cultural districts of the country like Qui Hop is doing.
