Promoting national strength in patriotic emulation movements
On June 11, 1948, Uncle Ho wrote the “Appeal for Patriotic Emulation” when the resistance war against French colonialism was facing fierce and difficult challenges. With great prestige in the hearts of the nation, Uncle Ho’s appeal became a call for all people to devote all their efforts to move forward to win the great resistance war.
(Baonghean) -On June 11, 1948, Uncle Ho wrote the “Appeal for Patriotic Emulation” when the resistance war against French colonialism was facing fierce and difficult challenges. With great prestige in the hearts of the nation, Uncle Ho’s appeal became a call for all people to devote all their efforts to move forward to win the great resistance war.
In the “Call for Patriotic Emulation”, Uncle Ho wrote: “With the indomitable spirit and endless strength of our nation, with the patriotism and determination of our people and army, we can win, we will definitely win”.
Uncle Ho's "Call for Patriotic Emulation" at that time aimed to mobilize the people's strength in the "all-people" resistance war against French colonialism. Over the past 65 years, Uncle Ho's call has mobilized the strength of the great national unity bloc in revolutionary periods. That strength originates from the "indomitable spirit and endless strength of our nation", and it is that strength that has made the patriotic emulation movement spread widely and strongly among all classes of people. Since Uncle Ho wrote the "Call for Patriotic Emulation" until now, the patriotic emulation movement has increasingly developed with many diverse forms, gathering the participation of all classes of people.
During the two long resistance wars against France and the US, many patriotic emulation movements created the miraculous power of people's war such as: "Death for the Fatherland"; volunteering to be civilian laborers on the front line; all for the front line, all to defeat the American invaders; emulation to win in the people's armed forces; youth with three readiness, women with three responsibilities; in the rear, there was a movement of not a single kilo of rice missing, not a single soldier missing... During the renovation period, many patriotic emulation movements aroused the spirit of mastery and creative labor of the people such as:
emulation of good labor among workers, civil servants, and laborers; emulation of scientific research and creativity among intellectuals; emulation of good teaching and good learning in the Education and Training sector; upholding good medical ethics in the Health sector; being good at both public and domestic affairs among women; youth volunteering among youth; doing thousands of good deeds among teenagers and children...
In Nghe An, responding to Uncle Ho's call for patriotic emulation, in recent years, sectors, localities and units have widely launched many patriotic emulation movements, such as the movements "Nghe An joins hands to build new countryside", "Good workers, creative workers", "Practice skills, compete for good workers"... Through these movements, many typical and advanced collectives and individuals have emerged, representing the spirit of solidarity, the will to rise up, the spirit of overcoming difficulties, daring to think, daring to do, illuminating the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, promoting the internal strength and people of Nghe An.
The great thought of President Ho Chi Minh was to take the patriotic tradition of our nation as the foundation to launch the patriotic emulation movement. He himself pointed out the flesh-and-blood relationship between emulation and patriotism in every Vietnamese person, thereby making the patriotic emulation movement have a strong vitality and forever exist in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching: "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism must emulate", every Vietnamese person voluntarily and enthusiastically participates in emulation movements with a passionate love for the country. The greatest effect of the patriotic emulation movement is to gather the strength of the entire nation through many specific and diverse forms of emulation, suitable for each subject, each age group, each profession in different social environments.
Nowadays, in launching and organizing patriotic emulation movements, we must know how to choose appropriate forms of emulation to promote the spirit of mastery and creative labor potential of all classes of people. For the goal of "Rich people, strong country, democratic, fair and civilized society", patriotic emulation movements must be launched in every agency, unit and locality, thereby spreading widely throughout the country. Only then can we mobilize the strength of the entire nation to make the patriotic emulation movement increasingly develop.
