Nurture the will to get rich

The Dien grapefruit growing model of Mr. Ho Sy Phuong, Secretary of the Youth Union of Lien Yen hamlet (Thanh Lien commune - Thanh Chuong) is considered a typical economic success of Thanh Chuong youth. During the recent Tet holiday, his garden of 700 Dien grapefruit trees was not enough to supply the market, minus labor costs, his family earned a net profit of 400 million VND from selling grapefruit. However, to achieve today's results, he and his wife have experienced all the "bitterness and sweetness" of Dien grapefruit. From the time the idea was formed, to the implementation process, borrowing capital and finding an output market, he encountered difficulties, and at times thought he would have to give up. The first two or three years were basically a "total loss", each market day he and his wife carried a few hundred fruits but only sold a few, day after day, whoever "accidentally bought" complained that the grapefruit was bitter, so the entire grapefruit garden had to be thrown away after harvesting. After learning, we learned that this grapefruit variety only bears sweet fruit after 5 years, so we waited patiently. Heaven does not disappoint those who try hard. Up to now, his Dien grapefruit variety is not enough to supply the market.

Secretary of the Youth Union 5, Nam Son Commune - Do Luong, Tran Van Duc, also encountered many difficulties on the path to establish himself and his career. He had traveled everywhere, doing many jobs to choose the right and sustainable path for himself. He used to be a karate teacher in town, and a taxi driver for Mai Linh for 4 consecutive years, having experienced all the bitterness of the profession. Returning to his hometown, seeing the vast land, he nurtured the will to get rich. He started growing oranges, raising chickens, planting acacia, raising crossbred Sind cows, and each year he also earned several hundred million VND. Through research, he found that the flower-tree is a type of timber tree with high economic value, easy to grow, suitable for garden and hill land, on average 1 flower-tree has the economic value of 100 acacia trees, the only thing is that if you plant flower-tree, it will take 10 years to harvest. By using the short-term method to support the long-term, he grows acacia, raises chickens, cows, goats, and plants more than 300 flower trees in between. He believes that in the future, his farm will earn billions.

In addition, to develop the economy, many Youth Union officials have boldly applied the knowledge they have learned to open services suitable for their hometown market. One of them is the industrial and processing garment model of Mr. Pham Cong Dinh in My Thanh - Yen Thanh, which has an annual income of about 500 million VND, creating jobs for more than 20 local workers; the dance club model and coffee restaurant chain of Nguyen Dang Bao (Vinh City) has an annual income of 500 million VND, attracting and training about 30 workers; the model of Secretary of Giai Xuan Youth Union (Tan Ky) Nguyen Van Dai, born in 1985 - a typical good economic performer who received the Luong Dinh Cua Award in the field of afforestation and animal husbandry, with an annual income of nearly 500 million VND, creating jobs for nearly 10 workers, with an income of 4.5 - 5 million VND/person/month...

Promote the role of the organization

In the spirit of Resolution 01 of the 15th Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee on "Promoting the role of the Youth Union in participating in economic development", Youth Union and Association chapters at all levels in the province have actively mobilized, supported and organized youth to participate in economic development with many rich contents and forms; the Youth Union cadres have made great efforts, been dynamic, creative, and effectively directed the implementation of emulation movements among the youth. One of those creative ways is that the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has established the "Youth Entrepreneurship" Fund from the lottery campaign, mobilizing an initial capital of 1.7 billion VND. This fund is evenly distributed to Youth Union bases with youth economic development models with loan capital of 10 - 20 million VND. In parallel with the "Youth Entrepreneurship" Fund of the Provincial Youth Union, many district-level Youth Unions have established district-level youth entrepreneurial funds, and there are also support mechanisms for models proposed by the commune-level Youth Union.

Typically, in Do Luong district, the District Youth Union has mobilized a capital of 650 million VND to support economic models in the district. Each Youth Union household that receives a loan will have a credit mechanism from the commune and the Youth Union base there and must pay interest every year and repay both principal and interest after 3 years of receiving the loan. The new capital will be circulated to members with other economic models in the area. Since 2006, 70 Youth Union members with economic development models in the area have accessed this capital source. At the same time, the district has also proposed and advised on disbursement from the Provincial Youth Entrepreneurship Fund for 4 youth collective models in the communes: Trung Son, Nam Son, My Son, Thuan Son with a total amount of up to 400 million VND. Coordinated with the district Fatherland Front to disburse from the district's "For the Poor" Fund for 30 poor Youth Union households with an amount of 100 million VND. In addition, the District Youth Union has established a Youth Entrepreneurship Club, a place where young people with aspirations to get rich can exchange experiences in production and business, support in science and technology, plants, breeds and capital, and purchase output products.

In addition to promoting the effectiveness of the Youth Entrepreneurship Club model; Youth Entrepreneurship Fund for economic development, Thanh Chuong District Youth Union has also proactively coordinated with the Central Institute of Vegetables and Fruits to open many training courses to transfer science and technology and support plant and animal varieties for local youth union members, successfully building models such as: Growing oranges intercropped with guava and red-fleshed dragon fruit; successfully grafting black canarium varieties, providing 500 free seedlings for grafted canarium planting models in Thanh Nho, Thanh Thuy, Hanh Lam, Thanh Duc... Mr. Le Dinh Tho, Secretary of Thanh Chuong District Youth Union said: In addition to the need for capital, the weakness of rural youth is the lack of scientific and technical knowledge, so we are very interested in equipping young people with necessary knowledge related to animal husbandry and cultivation.

Comrade Pham Van Toan, Deputy Head of the Youth Workers and Urban Affairs Department, said: In addition to the provincial youth start-up fund, up to now, 14/21 districts, cities and towns have established district-level youth start-up funds and the outstanding debt has increased every year. During the past term, more than 200 young people received loans of nearly 3 billion VND. In addition, the loan capital from the Central Youth Union's "Employment Fund" through the Policy Bank has also been effectively promoted, with an outstanding debt of more than 3.8 billion VND for 20 projects, of which 2 projects received loans of 500 million VND. Through preferential capital sources, new jobs have been created for 10,250 young people.

In addition to supporting youth in accessing capital for economic development, raising youth awareness of vocational training and career development is also highly valued by the Provincial Youth Union. The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has assigned the Provincial Youth Development Support Center to annually develop plans and direct district, city and town Youth Unions to organize career orientation forums for students; coordinate with colleges and vocational secondary schools in the province and District Youth Unions to organize "Admission and Vocational Training Consulting Day", direct consulting activities "Journey to vocational schools and craft villages" attracting a large number of cadres and youth union members to participate. The Provincial Youth Union has also proactively coordinated with departments and branches to build models and pilot projects for economic development.

Need to replicate models

Although many results have been achieved, the activities to support young people are not high and have not really gone into depth. Currently, the weaknesses of rural youth are low education level, lack of jobs, few opportunities for vocational training, so their income is unstable, unstable, and seasonal. A large number of young people leave their hometown to work far away, making it difficult to select leaders of village youth unions and factors to build the Youth Union - Association movement at the grassroots level. This reality poses an important task for the Youth Union organization in gathering and solving employment for young people. Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hung, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: In addition to continuing to concretize Resolution No. 04 of the Central Youth Union on strengthening the role of the Youth Union in mobilizing and organizing young people to participate in economic development, launching rural youth to compete in implementing the 4 new movements (new techniques, new occupations, new markets, new models) to improve production and business efficiency.

Coordination of career guidance, vocational training, and science and technology training will also be innovated by the Youth Union and Association at all levels in the direction of linking with the local economic development planning program, social needs, and aspirations of workers. Replicate models of groups and teams that support capital, labor, and production materials to help each other develop the economy at Youth Union branches, associations, and youth business clubs. Promote the role of the Youth Union and Association as a bridge in developing the "4-house" linkage (Farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and the State) to improve production efficiency, expand markets, and produce goods with high productivity and quality; mobilize businesses to invest in youth economic projects such as aquaculture, agricultural, forestry, and fishery processing, youth farms, youth business villages, youth cooperatives, etc., and at the same time link to guarantee output for products...
