Promoting land potential, tourism, sustainable poverty reduction

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 28, the provincial working delegation led by Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee worked with the District Party Committee and the Con Cuong District Government and visited the economic model and new rural construction in Yen Khe commune.

Accompanying the delegation were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, comrades in the Provincial Party Committee, heads of the Provincial Party Committee's Party committees, the Provincial Ethnic Committee; leaders of the departments and branches: Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Finance, Natural Resources - Environment, Home Affairs, Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and the Provincial Military Command and Border Guard.

In 2013, Con Cuong district achieved and exceeded 17/20 targets. Economic growth rate reached over 7.6%. Total food output reached over 29 thousand tons. Budget revenue in the area reached nearly 16 billion VND; the district created jobs for 1,000 workers.The average income per capita of the district reached 15.5 million VND; the poverty rate by the end of 2013 decreased from 37.83% to 36.53%. National defense and security were maintained. Regarding party building, Con Cuong district had 64% of grassroots party organizations achieving the title of Strong Party Organization, with no weak grassroots party organizations.

However, in recent times, Con Cuong has also revealed some shortcomings and limitations: The implementation of crop restructuring is still slow, crop productivity is still low. Economic development models are still few and have not been widely replicated. The work of building standard communes in terms of health and cultural institutions has not yet met the plan; the resolution of problems related to the resettlement project of the Dan Lai ethnic group is slow...

At the meeting, Con Cuong district requested the province to allow the district to continue implementing the detailed plan to establish Con Cuong town; requested the province to allocate capital to speed up the progress of unfinished construction works so that they can be put into use soon; and allowed the district to establish a number of projects to develop production of tea, oranges, and raw material forests.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc delivered a concluding speech at the meeting.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Ho Duc Phoc acknowledged the results that Con Cuong has achieved in various fields in the past time. Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Provincial Party Secretary requested: the district must introduce high-economic efficiency tree and animal varieties into production; develop the forestry industry associated with commodity production; find solutions to promote the potential of eco-tourism; focus on vocational training, create jobs for workers; mobilize social resources to improve people's lives, accelerate the pace of hunger eradication and poverty reduction;Review the targets of the Party Congress, find solutions to complete the targets that have not been achieved. The Provincial Party Secretary requested the staff and civil servants to improve their public ethics, properly implement Directive 17 of the Provincial Party Committee; strengthen administrative reform. Regarding the work of Party building, the district needs to promote the building of great solidarity, build a strong political system, and continue to effectively implement Resolution 4 of the Central Committee.
