Kovtun - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam visited and worked with the management board of the Southeast Economic Zone. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board.

Overview of the working session

Established on June 11, 2007 under the Prime Minister's Decision, the Southeast Economic Zone is located in Nghi Loc, Dien Chau districts and Cua Lo town. Detailed planning of functional areas includes: Nam Cam Industrial Park and Tho Loc Industrial Park; 5 urban areas, professional schools and Cua Lo Deep Water Port associated with the Southeast Economic Zone. In addition to the Southeast Economic Zone, the province has completed detailed planning of 6 industrial parks; 3 industrial parks have been established: Bac Vinh, Hoang Mai 1, Dong Hoi; 2 industrial parks have not yet had detailed planning: Tri Le and Phu Quy.

Currently, the infrastructure investment in the Southeast Economic Zone has been basically completed, mainly focusing on the construction of electricity, traffic, water supply, and wastewater treatment items. Other industrial parks are continuing to deploy infrastructure construction. With the Government's incentives on tax and land rent; incentives from the province on site clearance, technical infrastructure, recruitment and training. Up to now, the Southeast Economic Zone and Nghe An industrial parks have attracted 118 projects, including 13 foreign direct investment projects, with a total registered investment capital of VND 23,157 billion (USD 1.103 million). Of which, 55 projects have come into operation (9 FDI projects). The upcoming operation roadmap of the Southeast Economic Zone and industrial parks in Nghe An focuses on 4 contents: attracting investment; promoting planning; directing infrastructure construction; promoting administrative procedure reform.

After listening to the report of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board on the development of the economic zone and industrial zones, Mr. Andrey G. Kovtun highly appreciated the economic development potential of Nghe An province in general and the Southeast Economic Zone in particular. Paying special attention to the seaport and energy industry sectors, the Ambassador promised to actively promote and encourage Russian enterprises to invest in Nghe An - opening up new directions for cooperation and development and prioritizing the promotion of the local strengths.
