Promoting the tradition of 'Uncle Ho's soldiers', building a strong homeland

(Baonghean) -Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee gave an interview to Nghe An Newspaper on the occasion of the 6th Provincial Congress of the Association of War Veterans.

PV:In recent years, Nghe An's economy has grown quite well, culture and society have improved, national defense and security have been ensured, and the political system has been consolidated and strengthened. What contributions has the Nghe An Veterans Association made to that overall achievement, comrade?

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong:In recent years, especially in the last 5 years, under the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, cadres and members of the Veterans Association at all levels in the province have continuously educated and fostered to improve their political qualities and revolutionary ethics, promoted the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", actively participated in the work of building and protecting the Party and government, strengthening the great national unity bloc; resolutely fought against all plots and activities of "Peaceful evolution" by hostile forces, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security of the province.

Associations at all levels and members are exemplary and actively mobilize people to properly implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws through practical and effective actions and by typical examples. Many war veterans, despite their disabilities, still actively fight on the economic development front, becoming typical examples in local patriotic emulation movements.

In any field, war veterans always complete their assigned tasks well, are trusted by the Party and government, and loved by the people.

The Association of War Veterans coordinates with the Fatherland Front, organizations, departments and branches at all levels to effectively implement social activities in the locality, such as: building economic infrastructure; education and training; building cultural life at the grassroots level; maintaining political security, order and social safety...

Thereby, the Association at all levels plays a good role as a bridge between "the Party's will and the people's heart", contributing to solving problems arising in social life, especially land clearance and compensation; educating the young generation about patriotism and revolutionary heroism...

The associations at all levels have actively participated in campaigns, movements, and national and local target programs, such as: "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", "All people protect national security", "Building safe communes, wards, towns, and clusters to be ready to fight", preventing crimes and social evils, ensuring traffic safety, protecting the environment...

Many models of mediation groups, self-management groups to prevent and combat social evils, ensure security, order and traffic safety, with war veterans as team leaders, have created prestige in the community. Effectively implement the movement "Veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business"; combine support resources, help war veterans in difficult circumstances, develop the economy, escape poverty and become rich legitimately.

In particular, in the new rural construction movement, many veterans have voluntarily donated land for civil works, contributing to changing the face of their homeland...

PV:On the occasion of the 6th Provincial Congress of War Veterans Association, what messages do you have for the delegates attending the congress?

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong:The 6th Congress of Delegates of the Provincial Veterans Association is a congress that demonstrates the will, aspirations and solidarity of the province's veterans in the new period.

In the light of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress; Resolution of the 18th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress, cadres and members promote the nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", "Loyalty - solidarity - exemplary - innovation", strive to build a clean and strong Association, equal to the tasks and position of a political - social organization, successfully implement the goals and targets set by the Provincial Veterans Association Congress, worthy of the trust and love of the Party Committee, government and people of the province.

In the coming term, the Association of War Veterans at all levels needs to continue to promote the nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" and perform well the following tasks:

Firstly, actively participate in building and protecting the Party, government, socialist regime, and protecting the people; contribute to building the great national unity bloc, and maintain political stability at the grassroots level.

Second, encourage war veterans to uphold the spirit of self-reliance, help each other get rich legally, strive to reduce poverty quickly and sustainably; actively and effectively participate in campaigns, movements, economic, cultural and social programs in the locality.

Third, closely coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and socio-political organizations to actively educate and foster the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism for the younger generation. Proactively implement and coordinate to supervise the settlement of regimes and policies for war veterans.

Fourth, promote the emulation movement "Exemplary war veterans" of the Association in conjunction with the patriotic emulation movement in localities, agencies and units; build and replicate models and examples in all areas of the Association's activities, especially key and main tasks; create new changes, achieve higher quality and efficiency in the new term, contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 18th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress, and build Nghe An homeland to become increasingly strong and prosperous.
