PV: Promoting the revolutionary tradition in Phan Dang Luu's homeland, Yen Thanh Party Committee has led the people to achieve many achievements in building and defending the homeland and country. Could you please summarize some highlights?

Comrade Phan Van Tan: Proud to be the hometown of the revolutionary predecessor Phan Dang Luu - an outstanding communist who made many great contributions to the Party and the nation, setting an immortal example of revolutionary spirit for today's and future generations, under the leadership of the Party, cadres and people of Yen Thanh district have strived, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and excellently fulfilled political tasks in each historical period. During the two resistance wars against France and the US, the Party Committee, people and armed forces of Yen Thanh not only built a strong rear but also devoted human and material resources to the frontline. With the spirit of "not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing", during the resistance war against the US, Yen Thanh provided thousands of tons of food to the frontline, 29,000 outstanding young people joined the army, 1,736 people joined the youth volunteer force; 3,400 people joined the frontline laborers. 3,715 outstanding sons of the homeland heroically sacrificed, over 4,000 wounded and sick soldiers left a part of their blood and bones on the battlefield. All cadres, party members and people in the whole district have strived and achieved outstanding achievements: the people and armed forces of Yen Thanh and 5 communes of Hoa Thanh, Hop Thanh, Cong Thanh, Son Thanh and Vinh Thanh were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State, 6 individuals were awarded the title of Hero of Labor, 81 mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother, tens of thousands of families and individuals were awarded and posthumously awarded medals of various types.

From 1986 to present, along with the whole country entering the period of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas, the District Party Committee has focused on leading the people of Yen Thanh together with the whole province and the whole country to carry out the renovation process, achieving many important results in all fields.

Economic growth rate in 2011 reached 15.24%, economic structure shifted in the right direction: agriculture, forestry and fishery decreased to 42.49%, industry and construction 28.07%, trade and services 29.44%, budget revenue increased by 18.8% each year, grain output reached nearly 180 thousand tons.

Up to now, the whole district has 68 schools meeting national standards, each year more than 1,200 students are admitted to universities and colleges; 35/39 communes meet national standards on health; 60% of villages, 85% of households meet cultural standards; 145 km of asphalt roads, 119 km of concrete roads, 349 classrooms have been built, 17 dams have been upgraded, nearly 110 km of canals have been concreted... many offices, hamlet cultural houses, and people's houses have been built spaciously, the appearance of the countryside, towns, and Yen Thanh town has clearly improved, people's lives have been stable, and gradually improved. National defense and security have been strengthened, maintaining political stability, social order and safety, creating a healthy environment for socio-economic development.

PV: Dear comrade, what orientations has the District Party Committee had to help Yen Thanh develop strongly and firmly in the coming time?

Comrade Phan Van Tan: Yen Thanh is a district with mainly agricultural production, a large population (nearly 280,000 people), and limited employment. Therefore, for sustainable socio-economic development, the district identifies the most important step as creating jobs for workers. To do this well, the district focuses on the following areas: vocational training, human resource training, and job creation for children in the district with the motto "leaving agriculture but not leaving home". The district has established a Vocational College for vocational training. In the near future, the school will strengthen its facilities, diversify its occupations, and improve the quality of vocational training, aiming to provide vocational training for farmers and young people who want to work far away; develop industrial clusters: towns, Trang Ke (My Thanh), Son Thanh... to attract investors to build factories to create jobs for workers. Currently implementing the Japanese Garment Factory project, creating jobs for about 6,000 workers, the banana export factory project, TH dairy farm, in the near future will attract more electronics assembly factories, motorbike assembly factories... Along with that, the district will review and renovate cultural works, historical relics to create tourism products to attract tourists to Yen Thanh. Currently, the Memorial Site of Uncle Ho visiting Vinh Thanh has been inaugurated, in the near future the district will coordinate with functional agencies to renovate and embellish the Phan Dang Luu relic site, build a monument and Phan Dang Luu square; build the Gam Pagoda spiritual eco-tourism area with an area of ​​over 500 hectares... redesign and re-plan the district town center into a cultural and political center according to a long-term strategic vision. Speed ​​up the progress of new rural construction on the basis of planning and adjusting the planning with a longer-term vision and higher criteria; Promote infrastructure construction, first of all traffic infrastructure (the district has completed traffic planning for 39/39 communes and towns), improve agricultural technical infrastructure, attract investment in industrial development, public services...
