From December 1, the documentary “Vietnam-The Fatherland seen from the sea” produced by the People's Documentary and Cinema Studio will officially be widely broadcast on most channels and television stations nationwide.

The film was released on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Law of the Sea.

The documentary “Vietnam-The Fatherland seen from the sea” consists of 40 episodes, each lasting 25-30 minutes, produced entirely from socialized funding, sponsored and broadcast by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, along with a number of member units of the group such as the Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Vietsovpetro, Binh Son Oil Refinery Joint Stock Company, etc.

The documentary “Vietnam – Fatherland seen from the sea” is divided into 3 parts: Affirming and protecting Vietnam’s sovereignty over seas and islands; Developing the marine economy; Cultural life of seas and islands.

According to the film crew, the film aims to reflect, mention, and propagate in a fairly complete, comprehensive, systematic, objective, authentic, rich, and multi-dimensional way about Vietnam's seas and islands. The film also systematically, comprehensively, and deeply systems the issues of Vietnam's seas and islands from history to the present, clearly stating the role and importance of the seas and islands in the lives of Vietnamese people from ancient times as well as today.

One of the important issues the film will address is the historical and legal bases to affirm and protect Vietnam's sovereignty over the sea, islands, and especially the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The spirit of determination to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands is clearly shown in the documentary film "Vietnam - Fatherland seen from the sea" through each historical period, with a clear message: In any historical period, regardless of feudal dynasty, different political regimes, there may be conflicting interests... but the spirit of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Vietnamese people is always highly promoted...

Journalist Nguyen Le Anh - Director of the People's Documentary and Cinema Studio, General Director of the Documentary "Vietnam - Fatherland seen from the sea" said: "Right from the time we searched for documents at home and abroad for the film "Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh era - Television Chronicle", we found many valuable documents and materials on the affirmation and protection of Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands, which were carefully stored in libraries and archives centers in many countries. Some related documents and materials are also kept in the country, most typically in addition to the Nguyen Dynasty's royal records and woodblocks, there are also many notes, drawings, and maps of foreign missionaries and traders who came to Vietnam many centuries ago... At that time, we came up with the idea of ​​making a film about sovereignty over seas and islands. Later, when building the script in 2019, we decided to make a more comprehensive film about the Fatherland's seas and islands, including the affirmation, protection of sovereignty and development of the country's sovereignty over seas and islands. economic development, cultural life of sea and islands...".
