Spreading spam messages will be fined up to 50 million VND
From today (December 1), those who spread spam messages will be fined from 30 to 50 million VND by authorities.
This is one of the contents of Decree No. 83/2011/ND-CP, regulating sanctions for violations in the telecommunications sector, signed and issued by the Prime Minister on September 20.
Accordingly, a fine of 10-20 million VND will be imposed on those who take advantage of telecommunications activities to incite superstition, destroy public morals, threaten and harass others...

For acts of eavesdropping, eavesdropping on information on telecommunications networks, stealing and illegally using passwords... will be fined from 20-30 million VND.
In particular, those who take advantage of telecommunications activities to incite violence, obscenity, depravity, crime, social evils, superstition; spread spam messages; services with fortune-telling, superstition, lottery, gambling content... will be fined from 30-50 million VND.
Recently, the authorities have also stepped in to limit spam messages. However, the results so far seem to be not very positive. There are times when every day, phone users receive one or more spam messages from strange phone numbers with advertising or fraudulent content.
In addition, spammers “act” at any time of the day, even in the middle of the night.
Therefore, Decree 83 can be considered a strong blow to prevent spam messages. However, for the Decree to be highly effective, the enforcement agencies need to seriously implement it and at the same time strengthen the inspection of telecommunications businesses.
