In 2015, the province's agriculture developed impressively, with a gradual decrease in cultivation, a significant increase in livestock and services; the ability to adapt to climate change, productivity, quality of added value and economic efficiency were improved; of which, agriculture increased by 4.47%, forestry increased by 3.52% and fishery increased by 5.43%; food output reached 1.204 million tons, the highest ever. Food crop production (rice, corn...) increased in total planting area, productivity and total output. In particular, the province has encouraged and focused on producing high-quality, high-value, easy-to-sell rice (over 40% of the area) with varieties such as: AC5, B-TE1, Vat Tu NA2, Bac Thom, 8787 sticky rice, herbal rice... The total area of ​​concentrated orange and tangerine planting reached 116.073%, an increase of 12.01% compared to 2014. The irrigation system has been invested in more, so the productivity and quality of oranges have increased, bringing high income.

Total output of live pigs for slaughter increased by 7.78% compared to 2014, fresh cow milk output reached 126.67%. Total aquatic product output reached 106.52% of the plan, up 8.63% compared to 2014. Of which, seafood exploitation reached 108.83%; P15 shrimp breeding reached 102.8%. Salt output reached 101.33% of the plan. Concentrated new forest planting reached 130.06% of the plan; Illegal logging, exploitation of forests and trading of forest products and wild animals have decreased significantly.

Cooperation in product consumption

In 2015, Nghe An exported over 215 million USD worth of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products (including aquatic products and processed wood, tea, coffee beans, forestry products, wood chips, etc.). In particular, Nghe An has successfully built and developed the brand "Nghe An Tea", contributing to increasing the value and competitiveness of tea products domestically and internationally.

In the province, there have been many good models in production linkage, associated with product consumption for farmers such as quality rice production models of the Agricultural Materials Corporation, Vinh Hoa Science and Technology Company Limited, rice seed production linkage of Nghe An Plant Seed Center...; actively implementing Decision 62/QD-TTg on policies to encourage cooperation, production linkage associated with agricultural product consumption, building large fields...

Many businesses and units have actively expanded joint ventures, production links, and product consumption for farmers in areas such as: production of high-quality plant, animal, and rice varieties (over 25,000 hectares), feed production, dairy farming, etc. Thereby, contributing to increasing value per unit area, raising income for farmers.

The province pays great attention to the work of combating drought and salinity, along with encouraging the economical use of water; implementing exemptions and reductions of irrigation fees, flood and storm support... with a total budget of over 280 billion VND; strengthening the review of management, land use and operations of agricultural and forestry companies, thereby encouraging the transfer of inefficiently used areas to localities and investors to implement large projects, such as dairy farming, medicinal plant cultivation, and high-tech vegetable and fruit production.

Building comprehensive, high-tech agriculture

Based on the achievements, in 2016, Nghe An province will continue to promote comprehensive agricultural development, towards modernity, sustainability, large-scale, concentrated production, associated with preservation, processing and consumption according to the value chain; prioritize varieties of plants and animals with high quality and value; promote intensive farming, good production practices; increase equipment and apply modern science and technology in harvesting, preservation and processing.

In particular, the province will focus on investing in developing high-tech agriculture in a number of areas: Dairy farming, freshwater fish farming, vegetable and flower production, quality rice production, corn, peanuts, sugarcane, tea, etc. Complete the planning for CNC application in rice, peanuts, tea and sugarcane production; continue to focus on attracting high-tech agricultural projects (CNC) to Phu Quy CNC agricultural zone; promote CNC vegetable, root and fruit production projects in Nghia Dan; industrial-scale dairy farming projects of TH Milk Food Joint Stock Company, Vinamilk; transform small-scale, scattered farming into industrial and high-tech farming; encourage closed production organization, linking stages in the value chain to reduce costs, increase efficiency and added value.

"Nghe An is converting the product structure from exploiting young wood for wood chip export to exploiting large wood according to the Forestry Development Project until 2020. Adjusting the structure of forestry tree varieties for protective forest planting towards increasing multi-purpose trees, creating conditions to increase income for forest workers. Prioritizing investment in construction of works and projects to create breakthroughs for fisheries, including fishing ports, boat anchorage areas, farming area infrastructure; works to improve capacity for fisheries and forestry inspection; irrigation infrastructure works, climate change prevention and serving scientific research, selection and breeding. Continuing to upgrade the fleet with a capacity of over 90CV with modern maritime equipment" - Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy - Director of Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said.

The province has also issued a plan for agricultural, forestry and fishery development until 2020, a project to restructure the agricultural sector, strongly develop models of linkage and production cooperation between enterprises, scientists and farming households to build large fields associated with product consumption, establish cooperative groups to exploit seafood at sea, to improve economic efficiency, contribute to maintaining security and sovereignty over seas and islands... Promote the arrangement and transformation of agricultural and forestry companies according to the approved project, improve production and business efficiency, and land use efficiency of companies.
