Developing ornamental plants into an economic sector
In 2010, the Provincial Ornamental Plants Association added nearly 400 members, bringing the total number of members to nearly 4,000. Currently, the province has 8 Ornamental Plants Associations at district and urban levels, over 100 commune and ward levels, and 200 branches.
In 2010, commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association selected nearly 100 representative works, with products such as silk wood, bonsai, paintings, gemstones... to participate in the exhibition at the Grand Ceremony. In many communes and wards, 70-80% of families now have ornamental plants.
Most of the agencies, offices, hotels, and People's Committee headquarters at all levels have colorful ecological landscapes. In rural districts, there are over 100 hectares of landscapes and 40 enterprises, 165 groups processing silk wood, producing pots, over 200 households growing tens of thousands of square meters of flowers, creating jobs for 2,500 workers, and contributing billions of dong to the budget.
In 2011, Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association continued to direct all levels of the association to build and develop ornamental plants into an economic sector, creating income value and contributing to environmental protection; striving to develop an additional 300-400 members; 50% of districts and cities in the province have associations.
