Surgery to remove a piece of wood lodged in the leg for 3 months

(Baonghean.vn) -Doctors from the Department of Surgery, Nghe An Children's Hospital said: on September 28, the Department received and performed surgery on a child patient with a foreign object stuck in his body.

Three months ago, Nguyen Minh Hung (13 years old, from Dien Chau) was injured while playing soccer. After self-treatment at home, the wound showed signs of healing, but his leg still ached and was difficult to move. Some local doctors and nurses diagnosed Hung with osteomyelitis and referred him to the Children's Hospital for treatment. There, the doctors discovered a 5cm long piece of wood in his leg that was beginning to decompose, so they performed emergency surgery. Hung is currently receiving post-operative care at the hospital.

A few days earlier, doctors from the Department of Surgery also successfully removed a piece of glass that had been lodged in the mouth of a little girl in Quynh Luu district for more than 2 months. This was a piece of glass from the tip of a philatop tube, more than 1cm long. The girl's family said that while letting her bite the glass bottle of the philatop tube to drink, this piece of glass was stuck in her mouth but was not detected.
