Gaddafi's faction attacks oil refinery
The attack dealt a blow to claims by Libya's opposition National Transitional Council (NTC) that oil production had resumed.
On September 12, forces loyal to Mr. Gaddafi in Libya launched an attack and killed 15 opposition guards in Ras Lanuf.

“Gaddafi forces ambushed the industrial zone, killing 15 people and wounding eight, three of them seriously. The wounded were mostly soldiers defending the area because they were ambushed,” an NTC soldier said.
The incident shows that Gaddafi loyalists are still capable of fighting back even after losing control of almost the entire country.
The Ras Lanuf refinery is under NTC control. The attack occurred when 60% of the workers were present at the plant.
Earlier, on September 11, the NTC said that Libya had resumed oil production at an undisclosed location, and would trade online in the near future.
