Pilot Nguyen Huu Cuong still sees his teammates after falling into the sea

At noon on June 15, the border guard ship BP 06-12-01 approached pilot Nguyen Huu Cuong from the fishing boat of fisherman Pham Van Le.

Major Cuong said that while on a training flight from Sao Vang airport (Tho Xuan, Thanh Hoa) to Mat island area (Nghe An), the plane had an accident. There was an explosion in the cockpit, and immediately the two pilots opened their parachutes.

Mr. Cuong parachuted and flew about 3km away from his teammate Tran Quang Khai. When they fell into the sea, they were about 6km apart.

Nghe An border guard ship went out to sea and brought pilot Cuong to shore.

Mr. Cuong's health condition is quite good, only minor scratches on his hand and pain in his back from hitting the parachute cord when he fell into the sea. When they fell into the sea, they could still see each other.

After falling into the sea, Mr. Cuong drifted for a day and a night. At about 5:00 a.m., Mr. Cuong was discovered and rescued by a fishing boat owned by fisherman Pham Van Le.

Currently, search and rescue forces are focusing all their efforts on finding the whereabouts of Lieutenant Colonel pilot Tran Quang Khai.
