Phi Thanh Van: 'I am happy to be a mother after many miscarriages'

February 28, 2016 14:20

The actress confided that cosmetic surgery did not affect childbirth and expressed her happiness when her husband helped take care of the children.

- You gave birth to your first child on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2016. How did you feel when you saw your child being born after many unsuccessful pregnancies?

-What an amazing feeling! The moment my baby started crying, I couldn't believe that I was a mother. In the end, I felt happier than I have ever been in my 34 years.

I have experienced many different emotions in my life, but being a mother is the most wonderful. I had a caesarean section, so after the anesthesia wore off, my body was in a lot of pain, especially in my abdomen. But because of my love for my child, and my strong personality, I refused the help of the maid, trying to walk by myself so that my body could adapt quickly and the incision could heal quickly.

- What is a day like for you as a mother?

- At 5am I breastfeed my baby for the first time of the day. He drinks breast milk and formula in a ratio of two parts breast milk to one part formula. Breastfeeding and playing with my baby takes up all my time during the day.

Morning is the time to start the mother and baby care service, and it is completed in the afternoon. Housekeeping and cooking according to nutritional recipes are done by the maid. My child is carefully taken care of with every meal on time and gets enough sleep. Luckily, my child rarely cries, only when hungry or needs a diaper change to signal adults to pay attention to him.

I try to get enough sleep to have the energy to take care of the baby. Staying up all night is quite tiring for both of us. After the daytime services are completed and the caregivers leave, at night, my husband and I take turns looking after the baby. My husband usually takes care of the baby from 10pm to 4am. During this time, he devotes the most time to his wife. He usually takes care of the baby more so that I can sleep well.

Phi Thanh Van (blue dress) gave birth on the occasion of Lunar New Year.

- How did your previous cosmetic surgery affect your decision to have a cesarean section instead of a natural birth?

- Cosmetic surgery has no impact on my pregnancy and childbirth. Because I had difficulty getting pregnant, and I am no longer young, my husband and I decided to have a cesarean section.

Many people also wonder if my breast implants affect my mammary glands. I confirm that my mammary glands are normal like any other woman.Currently, each time I pump about 70 to 100 ml of milk and my baby drinks about 60 ml each time. I freeze the remaining milk for my baby to use gradually.

-How do you take care of yourself after giving birth to ensure you have enough milk for your baby?

- After giving birth for a month, I lost more than 10 kg. Although I lost weight, the amount of milk secreted for breastfeeding was still regular every day. That's because I followed the nutritionist's menu, not focusing too much on eating a lot of rice or abstaining from raw foods, seafood... like some folk experiences. In addition, tI take care of my skin every day like steaming, massaging, sunbathing, rubbing ginger and turmeric wine. I still apply other traditional herbal remedies. Thanks to that, I quickly regained my figure and porcelain white skin after giving birth.

I have been independent since I was young, so I don't like to bother my grandparents. My paternal side lives far away, and my maternal side is also busy taking care of many children at the same time, so I discussed with my husband to use all the postpartum health care services to help them be less busy.I was well prepared with a maid, nanny, and nutritionist during pregnancy and postpartum.

Although the cost of the services is quite high, I am still satisfied because I received scientific care. Especially, I was able to help my grandparents take care of my daughter after giving birth. My parents are both old, if they still had to take care of their daughter and grandchild, it would be very hard. I am happy that they take the time to visit and encourage me.

The actress was taken good care of by her husband during her pregnancy.

- Besides feeling your husband's devotion, how have you changed since becoming a mother?

-I understand the term “stay-at-home mom” more than ever. I feel more feminine and sensitive. I can cry when I watch my baby sleep, when I see him cry and laugh. Those are happy tears of a woman who has worked so hard to become a mother at the age of 34.

Since giving birth, I have loved my mother more than ever. I love my husband even more when I see how attentive he is to me and my child. I think not many men can take care of their wives and children as attentively as my husband.
