(Baonghean.vn) - Attending the military-political conference at the Provincial Military Command on the morning of December 14, comrade Nguyen Van Thong highly appreciated the achievements of this unit in the past year.

Opening the conference, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Thai Duc Hanh, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, disseminated and thoroughly grasped the Resolution of the Provincial Military Party Committee on leading the implementation of military and defense tasks in 2018. The conference also discussed and evaluated the results achieved, as well as the limitations and shortcomings in implementing the tasks in 2017.

According to Senior Colonel Thai Duc Hanh, last year, the Provincial Military Command closely followed the resolutions and directives of the Military Region Command, coordinated with departments and branches to advise the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee to effectively carry out local defense and military tasks. Many tasks were completed excellently, typically such as proactively coordinating with police and border forces, forecasting the situation on the border, sea routes, and key areas.

Advise local Party committees and authorities to handle complicated cases, ensure order, create a favorable environment for socio-economic development in the province....

In 2017, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command mobilized nearly 27,000 soldiers and militia to help people prevent forest fires and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, storms and floods... Selected and handed over 2,900 young men to join the army (reaching 100% of the target); built and consolidated reserve units, militia, maritime militia, and regular militia to ensure quantity and quality....

The Provincial Military Command also performed well in its defense foreign affairs tasks, typically completing the training course for Xieng Khouang Provincial Military Command officers; coordinating with Vientiane, Xieng Khouang, Xay Xom Bun provinces, and Laos to complete the task of collecting martyrs' remains in the dry season of 2016-2017 (achieving 104/80 sets of martyrs' remains, reaching 130% of the target), organizing a burial ceremony at Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery to ensure solemnity and high educational value.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thong acknowledged the contributions of the military force to the locality in recent times, especially in natural disaster prevention, mass mobilization work and maintaining security and order in the area.

“This year, Nghe An has conducted an excellent defensive area exercise. This issue has been confirmed by many forums, including the 4th Military Region Command and the Ministry of National Defense, not just my own assessment,” said comrade Nguyen Van Thong, saying that the Nghe An Provincial Military Command has the right to be proud of those achievements.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also pointed out the limitations and shortcomings that need to be overcome, emphasizing a number of key tasks that the Provincial Military Command needs to focus on and implement in 2018. In particular, the unit needs to focus on performing well the task of coordinating with forces to firmly grasp the area, especially key areas, continue to perform well the work of mass mobilization, propaganda and mobilization, promptly advise the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee to well implement the goals and targets of military and defense tasks, especially the task of building a solid provincial defense zone.

Concluding the conference, Colonel Tran Van Hung requested agencies and units to study and thoroughly grasp the content of the Resolution of the Provincial Military Party Committee to effectively perform the task of advising local Party committees and authorities to effectively carry out the tasks of 2018. In particular, the focus is to continue to do well the defense diplomacy work with neighboring Lao provinces; coordinate with forces to grasp the situation and enemy's plots and tricks to have appropriate handling plans; strictly maintain training and drill regimes, mobilize forces and means to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters; speed up the construction of rear bases, training grounds, and shooting ranges.

With the achievements, summarizing the emulation movement to win in 2017, the Provincial Military Command was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Military Region 4 Command; the Military Command of Quynh Luu district was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Ministry of National Defense; the Military Region 4 Command awarded the title "Determined to Win Unit" to 27 permanent units and 71 militia and self-defense units, and awarded the title "Cultural Unit" to 11 permanent units.

In addition, the Commander of the Provincial Military Command also awarded the title "Advanced Unit" to 117 collectives and 539 individuals who were awarded the titles of Emulation Fighter, Advanced Fighter, Certificates of Merit, Certificates of Merit of all kinds...
