Vice President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba officially visits Vietnam
At the invitation of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, First Vice President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel paid an official friendly visit to Vietnam from June 19-22.
This is the first visit to Vietnam of comrade Miguel Diaz Canel after being elected as First Vice President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba (February 2013).
The visit took place in the context of Vietnam-Cuba relations continuing to have important developments, demonstrated by the results of the official visit to Cuba by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in April 2012 and the visit to Vietnam by President Raul Castro in July 2012.
Currently, the two sides are implementing a number of cooperation projects in the fields of trade, agriculture, biotechnology-pharmaceuticals, construction, healthcare, telecommunications, etc. The two countries maintain close and effective cooperation at the United Nations and international forums.
This visit by Comrade Miguel Diaz Canel aims to consolidate and enhance the solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the Party, State and people of Vietnam and Cuba, exchange practical measures to promote multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, and share experiences in areas of interest.
