(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 31, Comrade Tong Thi Phong - Politburo member, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly visited the relic of Mr. Vi Van Khang's house, Mon Son Secondary School in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district and gave gifts to a number of policy families and poor households in the district.

Mr. Vi Van Khang's house was a meeting place, a place to print leaflets, a place to nurture and protect Party cadres, and a powerful historical witness of the local Party Committee and people in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement in 1930-1931.

In 1994, Mr. Vi Van Khang's house was ranked as a national historical revolutionary relic by the state. Vice President of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong instructed local officials and people to preserve and promote the values ​​of the relic, to educate the younger generations about revolutionary traditions, carry out poverty reduction, and continue to contribute to the development of the homeland.

Mon Son is a border commune, with many socio-economic difficulties, 60% of students are children of poor households, but teachers and students of the school have constantly overcome difficulties to improve the quality of teaching and learning. In 2010, the school was recognized as meeting national standards, in the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years, the school ranked 3rd in the district in terms of achievements in the 9th grade excellent student exam.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong praised the efforts of teachers and students in teaching and learning, hoping that local authorities and schools would promote the tradition of their revolutionary homeland and continue to do better in educating and training children of local ethnic groups.

On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also presented 60 blankets from the "Golden Heart" Fund to teachers and students of the school; and presented gifts to poor households in Mon Son commune. Representatives of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group presented the school with 3 billion VND to upgrade facilities, better meeting teaching and learning requirements.
