Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong inspected the flood situation in Dien Chau and Quynh Luu.
This morning, September 27, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of Nghe An province inspected the impact of storm No. 4 and preparations for storm No. 5 in Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts. Accompanying him were representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control.
(Baonghean) -This morning, September 27, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of Nghe An province inspected the impact of storm No. 4 and preparations for storm No. 5 in Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts. Accompanying him were representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control.
In Dien Chau district, the delegation inspected the Trung, Thinh, Thanh sea dykes, the fishing port and Dien Thanh sluice. These are locations at high risk of landslides during storms. Next, the delegation inspected Vuc Mau lake in Quynh Trang commune, Quynh Luu district. The lake was upgraded in 2009, has a length of 980m, 5 flood spillways with a designed water reserve of 75 million m3, and has an automatic rainfall and water level measurement system. The lake ensures water for the daily life of people in the area and Hoang Mai industrial park, along with water plants, Quynh Lap Central Dermatology and Leprosy Hospital, and serves irrigation for more than 2,000 hectares of rice fields in the area. The delegation inspected Lach Quen fishing port in Tien Thuy commune and Cau Hau area in Phong Thai village, Tien Thuy commune; and the boat anchorage area in Quynh Luu.
Due to the impact of storm No. 4, Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts had rain but were not affected. Up to this point, Dien Chau district has harvested 80% of the summer-autumn rice area. Quynh Luu district has harvested 20% of the summer-autumn rice area and nearly 2,257 boats have returned to safe anchorage.
Through the on-site inspection, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong highly appreciated the preparation work of localities and flood regulation work and noted that localities need to ensure proper operation of dams, mobilize people to harvest the remaining summer-autumn rice area; organize evacuation in coastal and riverside areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property; closely monitor the situation, grasp the developments of storm No. 5; be on duty 24/7 at key locations, ensure good security and order, and minimize damage caused by storms and floods.
Comrade Dinh Viet Hong inspected the sea dike system of Trung, Thinh, Thanh - Dien Chau communes, Vuc Mau lake in Quynh Trang commune, Quynh Luu district, Lach Quen fishing wharf in Tien Thuy commune where boats anchor to take shelter from storms.
