Vinh City's Specialized Street: Perspectives

(Baonghean.vn) - Formed spontaneously, over time, many advantageous streets in Vinh city have become specialized streets, creating economic and cultural highlights for the economic, trade and service center of Nghe An province.

Vinh City is the growth engine of the province, of the whole region, the most comprehensive and dynamic economic region of Nghe An province, planned by the Prime Minister as the economic and cultural center of the North Central region. With the advantage of being located on the North - South artery, convenient trade, a bustling trading place for a long time, Vinh is famous for Vinh market, Vinh station, Ben Thuy ferry, King Quang Trung temple, Sawmill, Ben Thuy Match Factory... along with streets named after heroes Quang Trung, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Le Hong Phong...

The main streets are increasingly expanding and lengthening along with the rising pace of life of a Class 1 City. To meet the shopping and consumption needs of the people in the province and tourists, shops and stores are springing up more and more bustlingly and are gradually planned by the city into specialized streets. The 3 specialized streets that have been directed for planning now have clear shapes: Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Quang Trung Street and Tran Phu Street. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street specializes in trading electronic telecommunications equipment, offices, and mobile phones; Tran Phu Street sells furniture and Quang Trung Street sells electronics, refrigeration, bicycles, and motorbikes.

Currently, after 5 years of planning: Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street has increased from 38 households specializing in electronics, telecommunications, and telephones to 53 households; Quang Trung street has increased from 46 households to 54 households selling bicycles and motorbikes; Tran Phu street has increased from 27 households to 36 households selling furniture. On this street, there are also some individuals from the North coming to sell tables, chairs, beds, and wardrobes. Ms. Oanh from Bac Ninh - owner of a large wooden furniture store on Tran Phu street, said: Realizing that Vinh is a big city with a large demand for shopping, she rented a store here and now her family has 2 large stores in Vinh city specializing in selling wooden furniture such as tables, chairs, beds, wardrobes, and dressing tables made of high-quality wood. Because the products are sold in a concentrated area, with eye-catching designs and competitive prices, they attract a lot of customers and customers also have many opportunities to choose.

In addition to the above 3 streets, Vinh City also has specialized streets on Phan Dinh Phung and Pham Hong Thai streets, trading in construction materials (with 49 households, accounting for 39% of other industries); Dang Thai Than street has 53 households trading in clothes, accounting for 43% of other industries. In addition, there is also Thanh Co night food street which has been in operation since April 2008 and currently has 30 households trading in the following items: porridge, pho, vermicelli, cakes, attracting a large number of diners.

The above achievements are due to the diligence and industriousness of the people in and outside the city, as well as the close direction of the City in planning and selecting locations. The City has publicly planned specialized streets, designed, installed, and symbolized logos with 16 signs placed on 5 specialized streets: Phan Dinh Phung, Quang Trung, Minh Khai, Le Huan, Tran Phu, and directed the wards and communes in planning, management, and propaganda.

Quang Trung Street has many bank branches.

On some specialized streets, it is easy to see the dominance of many projects and buildings "outside the city's planning" over the business lines of the commercial street. For example: Quang Trung Street: high-rise projects are springing up more and more, making shops, bicycle and motorbike shops "shrink" and become weaker. Tran Phu Street sells furniture but only on one side, the other side is a mixed bag of goods. Wooden furniture on this street is also strongly promoting the northern wood craft villages. On many streets: many items are sold more than bought, making it difficult for some business owners to change their products. Some streets are gradually becoming specialized streets such as Nguyen Van Cu Street, which concentrates hundreds of clothing shops but is not in the city's planning. This must be something that Dang Thai Than, the clothing specialized street, must "ponder" because customers coming to buy on this street are gradually decreasing. Why is that? Is it because the quality of goods on the specialized street is not eye-catching, not "unique", not branded, but still "average"?

Specialized streets have advantages for buyers, where customers can easily choose goods, have the opportunity to visit, evaluate, compare to become "smart" consumers. Specialized streets attract tourists to explore, shop, beautify the city space, towards a civilized, modern city. Specialized streets are the image of a city with investment in planning, management and towards preserving local strengths, and are a place to promote outstanding products and goods of the province.

Developing and maintaining specialized streets is very necessary in Vinh city, but the city and the Associations should approach the shop and store owners to find ways to support them in the best way to sell in this area, which not only brings income but also their livelihood.
