(Baonghean.vn) -Yesterday afternoon, March 17, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR Thong-lun Xi-su-lit visited and worked in Nghe An. Receiving and working with the delegation was comrade Pham Binh Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
At the meeting, Nghe An provincial leaders reported on the results of diplomatic activities between Nghe An and three Lao provinces: Huaphan, Xiengkhouang and Bolikhamxay. Currently, there are 10 Nghe An enterprises investing in the Lao market, with a total investment capital of over 60 million USD. In addition, there are over 30 enterprises exporting to Laos. In the past, Nghe An has trained hundreds of Lao students and staff in many fields of work. Nghe An province has also supported tens of billions of VND to build infrastructure for border provinces.
Implementing the plan to increase the density and embellish the Vietnam-Laos border markers, Nghe An has so far coordinated with the three provinces sharing the border to conduct bilateral surveys of 98/115 markers, build 73/115 markers, and is expected to complete the field marker planting work by the end of the year. The province has directed functional forces to coordinate with border districts to exchange information to effectively implement the work of preventing smuggling, drugs and illegal migration.
Laos has also created favorable conditions for the search and recovery of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos. To date, 12,000 sets of remains have been recovered and brought back to Vietnam for burial.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR Thong-lun Sisoulithhas acknowledged and highly appreciated the friendship and diplomatic relations between Nghe An and the provinces of Laos. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Treaty, the Deputy Prime Minister hopes that Nghe An will continue to build and further develop the loyal and steadfast friendship that has been nurtured by the two Parties and two States over the past half century.
