Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan meets with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

On the afternoon of May 23, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan's visit to Japan and expressed his belief that the visit will contribute to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan thanked the Japanese Government and people for their effective support and assistance to Vietnam, and appreciated Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's choice of Vietnam as the first country to visit in January 2013 right after taking office.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam considers further deepening the strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia with Japan one of the top priorities in its foreign policy.

During this visit, the Deputy Prime Minister exchanged opinions with a number of Japanese ministers and representatives on measures to promote Vietnam-Japan cooperation and the organization of a forum on human resource cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting, the two leaders agreed to cooperate closely to develop the strategic partnership more deeply and effectively and coordinate well in organizing events during the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year 2013, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
