Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh chaired the APEC National Committee meeting.
This is the final meeting of the National Committee before the APEC 2017 Summit Week.
On the morning of September 20, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, Chairman of the APEC 2017 National Committee chaired the 9th meeting of this Committee to evaluate the work in the past time and the preparation for the APEC 2017 Summit Week.

The report at the meeting said that in the past time, the 5 sub-committees and related ministries and branches have successfully organized the Food Security Week, the Small and Medium Enterprises Ministerial Conference, as well as the SOM 3 Conference and related conferences. At the same time, they are urgently preparing for the high-level week taking place in November 2017 in Da Nang city.
Member economies continued to support APEC 2017, with relatively large attendance and at a higher level than in recent years. The Food Security Week included 17 events with 750 delegates. The Small and Medium Enterprises Ministerial Conference was attended by 160 delegates from 20/21 member economies.
SOM 3 and 74 related meetings were held in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of nearly 3,000 delegates. In addition, Vietnam continued to correctly assess the concerns and properly mobilize partners to reach consensus on many issues to prepare content for the High-Level Week.
Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that up to now, there have been 7 documents approved by the Ministerial and SOM conferences, agreed to report to the Joint Economic Foreign Ministers' Conference and the high-level conference, including:
Strategy for green, sustainable and innovative micro, small and medium enterprises; Initiative on promoting start-ups and innovation; Framework for promoting cross-border e-commerce; Set of typical experiences on supporting industry development; Action plan on food security and climate change; Action plan on sustainable rural and urban development to enhance food security and quality growth; Monitoring framework for action programs on the connectivity and supply framework.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh welcomed the ministries and branches for successfully organizing conferences in recent times, especially in-depth conferences on fields that have been assessed as successful, and said that the seven documents adopted and reaching consensus and agreement among APEC member economies are extremely important.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that today's meeting is also the last meeting of the National Committee before the APEC 2017 Summit Week. 3/4 of the work of APEC 2017 has been completed, including 6 Ministerial meetings and 3 SOM meetings. So far, in terms of document content, it can be said that the conferences held in the past 9 months have achieved the number of documents approved by Ministerial meetings.
