Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh continues bilateral meetings
Within the framework of activities on the sidelines of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York (USA), on September 25, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh had bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Venezuela and Grenada.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Vietnam's efforts to increase its contributions to solving global issues, and asked countries to support Vietnam's candidacy for the United Nations Economic and Social Council for the 2016-2018 term, the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term, and the UNESCO Executive Board for the 2015-2019 term.
Regarding Türkiye, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the Turkish government consider removing protectionist measures and anti-dumping taxes on Vietnamese footwear and textile products; continue to create favorable conditions and increase the reception of Vietnamese workers, especially in construction projects in Türkiye.
Regarding Bulgaria, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that this country promote the completion of negotiations on the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2014, as well as the EU's early recognition of Vietnam's market economy status.
With Macedonia, the Deputy Prime Minister asked you to increase the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students. The Macedonian Foreign Minister has pledged to meet our request starting next year.
Regarding Venezuela, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed creating conditions and helping to remove difficulties for Vietnam's oil and gas cooperation project in this country, expressing his hope that the two countries will closely coordinate on the occasion of Venezuela hosting the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in 2015.
Venezuela's Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the friendly relations with Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam will be one of the first countries that the Venezuelan President will visit in the near future.
Regarding Grenada, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Grenada; believes that the two countries need to further promote economic and trade cooperation, especially in the fields of telecommunications services, tourism infrastructure, fishing and seafood processing; and requests the Grenada government to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese telecommunications enterprises to invest and do business in Grenada based on experience from successfully implemented projects in other countries in the Latin American region such as Haiti and Peru. The Grenada Foreign Minister positively acknowledged Vietnam's proposal.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh met and discussed with a number of economic scholars from Harvard University in the United States.
The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the scholars' interest in Vietnam and suggested that they increase exchanges with Vietnamese research institutions, especially in the fields of macroeconomic research, economic restructuring experience and sustainable development.
