Deputy Prime Minister approves 13 members of the National Council on Water Resources
Accordingly, the National Council on Water Resources has 13 members including Deputy Ministers of the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Science and Technology, Planning and Investment, Finance, National Defense, Construction, Transport, Industry and Trade, Health, Foreign Affairs and the Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment (Ministry of National Defense); Director of the Department of Water Resources Management (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment).
Previously, the National Council on Water Resources was established under Decision No. 67/2000/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.
The National Council on Water Resources is responsible for advising the Government in the following 6 areas: 1- National water resources strategy and policy. 2- Reviewing and approving plans for major river basins. 3- Transferring water between major river basins. 4- Projects on protection, exploitation and use of water resources decided by the Government; preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of floods and other harmful effects caused by water. 5- Managing, protecting, exploiting and using international water resources and resolving disputes that arise. 6- Resolving disputes on water resources between ministries and branches and between ministries and branches and People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities and between provinces and centrally run cities.
The Council has a support office located at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
