Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam: 'VnExpress is a pioneering newspaper'

Affirming that VnExpress plays an important role in the development of journalism, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam expressed his wish that the newspaper will not only be at the top of Vietnamese newspapers but also reach out globally.

The 15th anniversary of the establishment of VnExpress electronic newspaper was held on the evening of February 26.in Hanoiwith the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vu Hong Nam, Chairman of the National Financial Committee Vu Viet Ngoan, Deputy Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Toan Thang, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia... along with many leaders representing management agencies, colleagues, foreign organizations and hundreds of partners..

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc,Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh,Hanoi Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Dinh La Thang, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Minh Hung, representatives of ministries, businesses, and colleagues also sent flowers and congratulatory letters.

Speaking at the ceremony,Editor-in-Chief Thang Duc Thang said 15 years is a long time.It's not a long time, but for VnExpress people it's an era.

Express joy at the eventCelebrating the newspaper's birthday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed:"VnExpress are pioneers.You are pioneers in choosing your path, but we also see you as pioneers in owning new technologies, building cooperative links not only in the press but also with the Government, businesses and society."

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, with over 37 million regular readers, of which 13% of readers access from abroad, many Vietnamese people living and settling abroad certainly have accessed domestic information from VnExpress.

"VnExpress plays an important and meaningful role in the development of journalism, together with the Government and society, helping the country overcome many difficulties and challenges," said the Deputy Prime Minister.and hope that the newspaper, turning 16, will continue to have great influence not only in Vietnamese."You are the top online newspaper in Vietnam, I hope you will be one of the newspapers with a similar position in ASEAN, Asia, or globally.".

Sharing in Vietnamese, French Ambassador Jean-Noel Poirier said,VnExpress is not only an important partner to the French embassy but also a friend because every morning when he wakes up, he opens the newspaper to update information.

At the ceremony, VnExpress was honored to receive a certificate of merit from Minister Nguyen Quan for its contributions to science and technology communication activities."Before I joined the Ministry of Science, I was a loyal reader of the newspaper. Until now, I still maintain this habit. That is my personal feeling, as well as that of scientists in general, towards VnExpress," said Minister Quan.
