(Baonghean.vn) -The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just issued Official Dispatch No. 4647/UBND-NC, dated July 10, 2012 on coordinating to resolve the incident that occurred in Yen Khe commune, Con Cuong. The content is as follows:

Dear:- Bishop of Vinh Diocese Nguyen Thai Hop;
- Father Tran Van Cong (Representative of Vinh Diocese Bishop).

The complicated incident related to religion occurred on July 1, 2012 in Yen Khe commune, Con Cuong district. The Provincial People's Committee notified the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office in Official Dispatch No. 4480/UBND-NC, dated July 2, 2012 and Official Dispatch No. 4569/UBND-NC, dated July 7, 2012 in response to Official Dispatch No. 25/12-VTTG, dated July 4, 2012 of the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office. The above documents reflected and provided full content and information, ensuring honesty and objectivity, about the illegal acts of the two priests Ngo Van Hau, Nguyen Dinh Thuc and a number of parishioners; currently, the investigation agency has initiated a criminal case and continues to investigate to clarify and handle according to the provisions of law.

Recently, on the website of Vinh Diocese, many articles have appeared that misrepresent the nature of the incident and some parishes in Vinh Diocese have hung banners and slogans in front of church gates with slanderous and fabricated content accusing the government of sacrilege, mobilizing the police, army and thugs to beat priests and parishioners...

To resolve the above incident, prevent possible bad consequences, and not let new complications arise, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee respectfully invited Father Tran Van Cong (Bishop's representative) to the Provincial People's Committee headquarters three times to discuss and clarify the nature of the incident, and at the same time agree on measures to resolve the incident, but all three times Father Tran Van Cong did not come (Invitation No. 1/414/GM-UBND-NC, dated July 5, 2012, Invitation No. 2/419/GM-UBND-NC, dated July 6, 2012, and Invitation No. 3/422/GM-UBND-NC, dated July 7, 2012). While the Bishop is abroad, the Provincial People's Committee requests Father Tran Van Cong, representative of the Bishop of Vinh Diocese, as follows:

1. Direct Catholic dignitaries and followers to comply with the law, ensure solidarity between religions and non-religious people, and contribute to building a prosperous and civilized Vietnam and Nghe An homeland.

2. Direct the immediate removal of banners and slogans throughout the Vinh Diocese, remove articles posted on the Vinh Diocese website that contain fabricated content and slander against the government; at the same time, honestly inform dignitaries and parishioners about the content of the incident that occurred on July 1, 2012 in Yen Khe commune, Con Cuong district so that people can understand and foster national solidarity, between Catholics and non-Catholics, and build a peaceful and happy life.

3. Direct religious dignitaries and parishioners not to engage in illegal religious activities in the province in general and Yen Khe and Con Cuong communes in particular, which affect security and order and prevent bad consequences from occurring.

4. Cooperate with the investigation agency to strictly handle violators in accordance with the law.

The Provincial People's Committee informs and requests the Priest to cooperate in implementation.
