Effective coordination of military and civilian medicine in people's health care

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 26, 2014, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Planning and Investment, led by Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Le Tuan, Deputy Minister of Health, had a working session with the Military-Civilian Medical Board of Military Region 4 on the coordination of Military-Civilian Medical Services, period 2011 - 2014; directions and tasks for period 2015 - 2020 and the results of implementing Project 317 of the Prime Minister on "Development of Vietnam's sea and island healthcare by 2020", period 2013 - 2015.

Major General Nguyen Sy Hoi - Deputy Commander of the Military Region, Head of the Military - Civilian Medical Department of Military Region 4 received and worked with the delegation; Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province attended the working session.

From 2011 to 2014, the Military-Civilian Medical Board at all levels in Military Region 4 was fully consolidated, focusing on guiding and effectively implementing the following activities: Strengthening grassroots healthcare, training human resources; Building medical reserve forces; Organizing medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine, and health consultation for policy beneficiaries, ethnic minorities, and the poor; Combining military-civilian medical staff in disease prevention, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, storms, floods, and emergency situations in the area.

Notably, the Military Medical Department of the Military Region has supported 4 billion VND from the State's investment capital to build, upgrade and repair 61 medical stations. The reserve medical force in the Military Region is regularly reviewed and supplemented; the DBDV field hospitals and DBDV treatment teams are organized to train, mobilize and alert to participate in defense zone drills with high results. The team of officers, doctors, nurses and 24 military medical teams of the Military Region are mobilized to participate in medical examination programs, provide free medicine and propagate hygiene and disease prevention for over 29,000 people.

Regarding the implementation of Project 317 of the Prime Minister, the medical system on the island line of Military Region 4 has been deployed to maintain effective operations at 2 infirmaries of Con Co Island (Quang Tri Province), Me Island (Thanh Hoa Province) and medical teams on the islands of the Military Region. From 2011 to present, the Military Medical force on the islands of Military Region 4 has examined 1,250 people, including 880 civilians, provided emergency care and treatment to over 300 people, and transferred over 36 cases, ensuring safety, timeliness, and correct indications.
