Effective coordination in handling citizens' petitions and recommendations
(Baonghean.vn)-On the afternoon of January 16, in Vinh City, the National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a conference to evaluate the results of implementing the coordination regulations in 2013 and deploy tasks in 2014. Comrade Pham Van Tan, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and Comrade Nguyen Van Huy, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee co-chaired the conference.
Based on the regulations of the two agencies, in 2013, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee had many coordinated activities to consolidate, expand and strengthen the great national unity bloc, deploy many documents of the National Assembly to the people, during the activities of the delegates, they mobilized voters and people to well implement socio-economic goals and campaigns. In the field of law-making, opinions were collected on 35 draft laws and the Constitution, and 17 laws were passed.
Through voter contact and citizen reception activities, 322 petitions were received and 67 petitions were forwarded to competent authorities, 46 responses were received; participated in handling and supervising the settlement of complaints and denunciations; organized 5 supervision sessions at the request of the National Assembly and 3 sessions of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; fully participated in meetings with the Provincial People's Committee to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of voters before the National Assembly and Provincial People's Council sessions...
In addition to some achievements, the delegates' statements pointed out some limitations in coordination activities such as: the activities of voters' contact with the National Assembly deputies only stopped before and after the session, voters were mainly commune-level cadres and village cadres, contact with voters at the hamlet and village levels was still limited (20%), the number of leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front participating in voter contact sessions was sometimes not guaranteed, the participation of cadres of the Front bloc in giving opinions on draft laws was not much and of low quality...

Based on the comments of representatives of the two agencies, the conference agreed on a number of key coordination areas in 2014: consolidating, expanding and strengthening the great national unity bloc; coordinating more closely and effectively in law-making work, improving the quality of voter contact activities of National Assembly deputies; synthesizing and gathering all opinions and recommendations of voters and people; improving the quality of coordination in handling petitions and recommendations of voters and citizens; fully and responsibly participating in monitoring activities according to the coordination program and plan...
Concluding the meeting, comrade Pham Van Tan acknowledged the comments and highly appreciated the results of the cooperation between the two units, contributing to changes in the activities of both sides. In the coming time, based on the results of the activities, the two sides will continue to coordinate more effectively in professional activities, especially in contributing opinions to draft laws, activities of meeting voters, receiving people and handling citizens' complaints and petitions, and effectively resolving people's recommendations./.
