The disease can be transmitted from buffaloes and cows to pigs and horses and often occurs at the beginning of the rainy season, in areas after floods (usually from April to October), when buffaloes and cows are cold, wet, confined in unsuitable barns, hungry or exhausted, with the following forms: hyperacute, acute and chronic.
Transmission routes: The disease is mainly transmitted through food contaminated with pathogens or through the respiratory tract, or through skin abrasions (especially in places where sick animals are slaughtered, meat, skin, nails are sold, etc.). In addition, ticks can also transmit the disease.
Treatment of disease: Because the disease progresses rapidly, treatment is only effective when antibiotics are used early, in the right dose, for the right duration, and combined with antipyretics and supportive drugs. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen management, care, and good nutrition for sick livestock.
Disease prevention: Implement good disease prevention measures such as: care, adequate feeding, regular disinfection of barns, do not let livestock stay in muddy, wet areas. The most effective measure in disease control is to vaccinate livestock every 6 months. Switch from free-range to pasture and farm and closely coordinate with veterinary agencies in implementing disease prevention measures.
Actively monitor and detect diseases early to isolate and treat them according to veterinary agency's instructions. In epidemic areas, sick cattle must be isolated, not transported, slaughtered and consumed meat and products of dead or sick buffaloes and cows. All buffaloes and cows that die from disease must be completely destroyed by digging holes, burning and burying them thoroughly. At the same time, regularly clean barns, collect manure and garbage, and compost bio-thermal compost to destroy pathogens.
