Education promotion movement in Sen 1 hamlet

(Baonghean) -Sen Hamlet 1, Kim Lien Commune (Nam Dan) is known not only for being the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, but also for being a place with a prominent movement to encourage learning. From the specific, practical and dedicated ways of those working in the field of encouraging learning, the effectiveness of the movement has been increasingly improved and has created consensus among the entire population.

Currently, the Sen 1 Hamlet Learning Promotion Association has 15 members. The Association has established a learning promotion convention and operating regulations suitable to the local economic, cultural and social conditions. On that basis, it organizes regular activities every 3 months and sets up a monitoring book, statistics and stores all relevant information. In particular, the Association has proactively coordinated with 34 teachers in the area (of which 9 are retired, 25 are working) to promote the learning promotion movement. Since then, the teaching staff in Sen 1 Hamlet regularly monitors, guides and encourages students to be more active and make more efforts in their studies.

The teachers have classified the quality of students into groups and coordinated with families and schools to organize tutoring for students who are still weak in learning. In addition, the team of teachers in the hamlet also advises the Association and directly directs the activities of the learning encouragement movement. A typical example is Mr. Tran Huy Cau, although retired, he is still very dedicated to the cause of education and the learning encouragement movement in the locality. As a member of the association, Mr. Cau actively participates in activities and organizes review and knowledge enrichment for students with low learning quality. Along with Mr. Tran Huu Cau, there are other teachers such as Nguyen Thi Binh, Tran Thi Ly (junior high school teacher) and Bui Thi Ai Khanh (primary school teacher) who are always actively taking the lead in the activities of the learning encouragement movement.

The Sen 1 Hamlet Education Promotion Association also mobilized the people and agencies and units in the area to respond to the socialization of education movement with the aim of building and supplementing the education promotion fund. On that basis, a "Traditional Golden Book" was established to register students with high results in studying and training (according to regulations, students with the title of Excellent Student at the district level or higher will be registered). In addition, benefactors who participated in supporting the education promotion fund were also recorded in the hamlet's "Traditional Golden Book".

From the fund raised, in the last school year, the Association allocated nearly 2.5 million VND to reward 5 students who passed the university entrance exam, 1 student who passed the college entrance exam, 1 excellent student at the provincial level, 7 excellent students at the district level, 23 excellent students at the school level and 52 outstanding students. Mr. Nguyen Nhu Y, Party Cell Secretary, Hamlet Chief and Vice President of the Study Encouragement Association, said: "Although the value of these rewards is not large, they have made the children really excited and have encouraged and motivated all children in the hamlet to strive in their studies to achieve higher achievements." Clans in the hamlet such as the Nguyen, Tran and Le families have also actively mobilized to build a study encouragement fund through contributions from each family and sponsorship from some successful children. Every year, on the occasion of the full moon of January, these clans organize a summary and reward their children with high academic achievements.

In addition, Sen 1 hamlet also regularly maintains the "Drum of Studying" movement to build awareness among the community in maintaining a regular routine, creating conditions for children to study. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hung, the head of the association, said: "It has become a habit that when hearing the drum signalling study time, parents turn down the volume of audio-visual media, while students sit properly in the study corner." Members of the Association for Promoting Education regularly coordinate with teachers to organize surprise inspections to promptly remind families who do not comply with the regulations of the "Drum of Studying" movement and do not care about their children's education.

Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Y added: "Implementing the motto "The Association is the foundation, the clan is the center, the family is the key", in the coming time we will continue to improve the Association for Promotion of Learning, find ways to supplement funds and build a suitable action program to promote the movement to develop further, worthy of being the homeland of beloved Uncle Ho".
