(Baonghean) -In recent years, the Campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example" has been actively implemented by all classes of people, grassroots Party organizations, and unions in Anh Son district (Nghe An) and brought about positive results.

We went to Tho Son commune - Anh Son district - a locality that received help from the "following" of many agencies and units in the district. Comrade Nguyen Van Hung - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said: "In 2009, Tho Son commune had 50% poor households, including a number of extremely poor households that received help from Anh Son District Party Committee to borrow capital to buy buffaloes and cows to develop the economy and escape poverty. That support has brought practical results to the poor households of the commune".

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Que (Hamlet 4) is one of the poorest households in Tho Son commune. Her husband died early, so she had to work hard to earn a living to raise her 3 children to study. Ms. Que said: “3 years ago, thanks to the attention and introduction of the Tho Son commune Party Committee and government, the family received 5 million VND from the Anh Son District Party Committee to buy a cow. Since having the cow, the family has had more pulling power to develop the economy and has a calf from the mother cow. When the calf grew up, the family sold it for 10 million VND, half of the money was used to pay off the bank loan, and the other half was used to buy more pigs to raise.” Like Ms. Nguyen Thi Que’s family, Ms. Lo Thi Ty, a Thai ethnic in Hamlet 8, Dong Ech, also had a similar situation. In 2008, her husband suffered from a serious illness and died early, leaving her with the burden of raising her family and 3 young children. In 2009, with the support of 5 million VND from Anh Son District Party Committee, she borrowed more money to buy a female buffalo. She said: "I have no job, my family's income only depends on rice grains and potatoes in the fields, every harvest season I have to go to exchange labor with others to ask the buffalo to plow the land. Since receiving support for buying a buffalo, the family's plowing and harrowing has been more proactive, and there is also a significant source of fertilizer for intensive farming." She calculated that after 3 years of raising buffalo, the female buffalo has now given birth to a calf. It is estimated that this pair of buffaloes is now worth more than 30 million VND. The amount is not large for many well-off families, but for a poor family like hers, it is a fortune. It is known that recently, Ms. Ty's family has been considered by the commune for financial support to build a house under Project 167. Thus, in the coming time, when the house is completed, Ms. Ty's family will have some capital to do business with peace of mind.

Tho Son Commune has up to 5 families that have received financial support from the Anh Son District Party Committee to buy buffaloes and cows for breeding, like Ms. Ty and Ms. Que. All of them have developed profitable livestock farming and are gradually escaping poverty. The "following" of the Anh Son District Party Committee has initially brought about practical results, contributing to changes in the lives of some poor people in this difficult land.
