(Baonghean.vn) - According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, recently on the Summer-Autumn rice crop of 2014, the large and small leaf roller 3 has appeared and caused damage at a high density in ponds and on a large scale in many districts in the province.
Currently, the third generation of caterpillars has fully emerged, and the fourth generation of caterpillars has appeared in the fields at high density. It is forecasted that in the coming days, the first and second generation of larvae of the fourth generation will be widespread from July 15 to 20, 2014. The fourth generation of larvae may appear at high density and over a large area, causing direct damage to the Summer-Autumn rice area at the end of tillering to panicle formation, and the winter-spring rice area at the stage of intensive tillering to the end of tillering. If not effectively controlled, it will seriously affect the growth, development and yield of rice.
To proactively prevent and minimize damage caused by pests and diseases, the Provincial People's Committee requests the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns; heads of relevant agencies and units to effectively implement the following tasks:

Regularly report the situation of pests to the Provincial People's Committee to have solutions to support farmers when necessary.
2.CChairman of People's Committee of districts, cities and townsFocus on directing specialized departments to closely coordinate with the Plant Protection Agency to closely monitor the situation of the emergence and damage of small leaf rollers, instruct farmers to promptly implement preventive measures according to the instructions of the Plant Protection Agency, and absolutely not let leaf rollers cause serious damage on a large scale. At the same time, assign responsibility to the Chairman of the People's Committee of communes/wards in propagating and directing farmers to implement scar prevention measures as instructed by specialized agencies. Absolutely do not let people lack information and have inadequate awareness leading to subjectivity in controlling harmful leaf rollers.
3.
