Towards Vietnamese Family Day on June 28, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has had many exciting and practical activities aimed at women and children; at the same time promoting the building of happy families.
Creativity in the “Godmother” Program
At the provincial level, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union organized a conference to review 3 years of implementing the "Godmother" Program (2022 - 2024) to evaluate the results achieved; honor organizations and individuals with many contributions to the program; and at the same time share and spread good practices to continue to create greater efficiency in the coming time.
The “Godmother” program was implemented by the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union with the goal of connecting, sharing love, care and providing spiritual support for orphans in difficult circumstances. After 3 years of implementing the “Godmother” program, the Women’s Union at all levels in Nghe An has connected 1,544 organizations and individuals to sponsor 2,143 orphans, with a total committed support amount of more than 26.3 billion VND.
In particular, the program has contributed to spreading the sense of responsibility of political organizations, businesses and people in caring for, protecting and educating children, especially orphans in difficult circumstances with many practical activities.
Like the Trade Union at all levels, in addition to receiving and connecting to receive support, help, and sponsor 354 orphans who are children of workers and laborers, the Provincial Labor Federation recently organized a "Connecting Love" summer camp for 200 orphans and children in difficult circumstances. This activity creates a useful playground and motivates children to overcome their circumstances.
In Quynh Luu district, the district Women's Union advised the Party Committee to choose to "follow" Uncle Ho by having cadres, civil servants, and party members save their own expenses to sponsor orphans. On the part of the Women's Union, to have a source of funding to support orphans, the Women's Union at all levels in the district have creatively implemented the following models: "Mother's environment, children's happiness", "Rice savings jar", "Savings tube", "Green plastic piggy bank", "Selling goods to raise funds", "Turning abandoned fields into Association funds", "Car washing to raise funds"... In addition, union members and women also undertake projects to raise funds such as planting rice for hire, harvesting rice for hire, dredging canals, gardening... Thanks to that, there are currently 299 orphans being sponsored, with a support budget of nearly 1.7 billion VND/year.
In Que Phong district, in addition to connecting organizations and individuals to sponsor orphans, the district Women's Union has advised the Party Committee to issue a plan to mobilize cadres, party members and people in the district to help orphaned students in especially difficult circumstances; at the same time, assign targets to party committees, party cells of agencies, units and schools to sponsor orphans, each unit from 1-2 children, the support level per month is 300-500 thousand VND/child, the sponsorship period is at least 3 years or more.
Women's Unions at all levels in Que Phong have also implemented models such as "Rice Saving Jar", "Saving Money Tube", "Turning Scrap into Cash, Books, School Supplies, Clothes" or mobilized direct donations from officials and members to support orphans. Up to now, 125 orphans have been sponsored in the district...
Many meaningful and practical activities
In June 2024, Women's Unions at all levels in the province had many exciting and practical activities aimed at women and children.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union organized a thematic conference on implementing Project 938 "Propaganda, education, mobilization, and support for women to participate in solving a number of social issues related to women in the period 2022 - 2027".
Accordingly, many good, creative practices and effective models were shared related to building a safe environment for women and children; preventing child marriage and incestuous marriage; preventing violence and abuse against women and children; and building happy families by Women's Union officials at all levels.
That is also the role of the Women's Union in building a prosperous, happy, progressive, civilized family associated with educating the family tradition of Nghe An; the goals and tasks that need to be focused on in the coming time to continue effectively implementing Project 938 and the tasks of building a prosperous, happy, progressive, civilized family...
At the district level Women's Union, such as Tan Ky district, a forum was organized to share experiences in supporting family building: "Warmth, progress, happiness, civilization", "Family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", "Family of 5 yes's, 3 clean's", and at the same time, 27 typical collectives and individuals in the movement to build happy families were honored.
Quynh Luu District Women's Union organized the program "Godmother" - Sunflowers welcome the sun", the contest "Happy family". Yen Thanh District Women's Union coordinated with the District People's Committee to organize communication to prevent domestic violence. Nghia Dan District Women's Union coordinated with the District People's Committee to organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children in 2024...
Many activities at the grassroots level of the Association were also organized, such as exchanges between clubs of “Family of 5 no, 3 clean”, “Building a happy family”; women’s volleyball exchange; “Family singing” festival; organizing a discussion to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day on June 28, honoring typical families in implementing the campaign “Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean”; organizing a cooking contest with the theme “Loving family meal”; organizing a “Golden Bell” contest on knowledge of family building and prevention of domestic violence; giving gifts to orphans and children in difficult circumstances, etc.
The activities of the Women's Union at all levels in the province have contributed to raising awareness and spreading many good values of Vietnamese families, while continuing to make efforts to build happy families, protect and care for women and children, especially vulnerable women and children in especially difficult circumstances, so that every Vietnamese family is happy, contributing to building a prosperous nation./.
