On the morning of April 8, at The To Mieu (Citadel - Hue), the Hue Monuments Conservation Center (CCR) held a handover ceremony of Vietnamese royal musical instruments, including a big bell and a big gong that have just been successfully restored with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND.

This is the result of the second cooperation activity between the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the National Center for Traditional Performing Arts of Korea (NGC), with financial support for restoration work from Korea.

The restoration project of the general and special orchestras was carried out from October 2011 to April 2012 and contributed to the completion of the royal music orchestra.

The tuning of these instruments was done by traditional Korean musical instrument restorer, Mr. Kim Hyun Kon.

On the evening of April 8, the two instruments will be performed for the first time at the Nam Giao ceremony.

It is known that since July 2010, the cooperation between Hue Monuments Conservation Center and NGC started with the experimental restoration of a common bell set (including 12 bronze bells) and a bell set (including 12 stone bells), which are unique musical instruments in the Vietnamese royal music orchestra.

At the end of December 2010, the restoration was successfully completed using traditional Vietnamese materials and manufacturing methods, carried out right in Hue with a total cost of more than 400 million VND.

The two sets of tablets and plaques are currently on display at The To Mieu.
