(Baonghean) - It is forecasted that electricity usage during the 2014 Lunar New Year will increase compared to last year due to the increase in the number of loads and the increasing demand for electricity for daily life of households. Following the direction of the Northern High Voltage Grid Company, since the beginning of December, Nghe An High Voltage Grid Branch has completed the plan to supply electricity for the 2014 Lunar New Year.
In 2013, Nghe An High Voltage Grid Branch proposed the Company to propose to the Northern Power Corporation and increase the capacity of the T2 transformer of the 110kV Do Luong transformer station from 25MVA to 40MVA, and the Thanh Chuong 110kV station from 1 25MVA transformer to 2 25MVA transformers, and at the same time complete the construction investment projects, major repairs, and regular repairs of the 110kV power grid. On the other hand, based on the actual electricity usage of each locality and region, Nghe An High Voltage Grid Branch coordinated with Nghe An Power Company to distribute the consumed capacity to each region in accordance with the load; prepare basic grid connection methods of the medium voltage grid and power supply plans in case of incidents.
For the Electricity industry, the inspection, maintenance and cleaning of power lines, grids and power stations are regular, monthly and quarterly tasks. However, during the Lunar New Year, due to the high demand for electricity for daily life, power consumption can increase dramatically. In order to promptly handle situations that arise, the Branch has handled the problems after periodic equipment testing, discovered during the process of managing and operating periodic and unscheduled inspections.
Up to now, the units under the Branch have fully prepared materials, human resources, and means; at the same time, basically completed the overall inspection of transformer stations, power line systems, cleaning of electrical equipment, and handling of contacts to prevent incidents; in which special attention is paid to fully loaded power lines and transformer stations as well as important loads serving the entertainment during the traditional Tet holiday. From January 17 (ie December 17), the units have stopped all power outages to serve the construction, repair, and maintenance of the power grid, except for cases of incident handling or special overload prevention works under the direction of the company director.
In combination with the above work, the Branch has printed a propaganda calendar on safety of power grid corridors and distributed it to organizations, households and schools where power lines pass through with the aim of raising awareness and responsibility for electrical safety and protecting national assets of each person.
During the days before Tet, families reunite and gather together, so during peak hours (from 5pm to 8pm), the demand for electricity is very high. With the goal of ensuring a stable and continuous power supply during the Lunar New Year, during the 9-day Tet holiday, the Company has arranged 50% of its staff to be present 24/24 hours a day. When an incident occurs, 100% must be present to check, fix, and quickly restore power, including New Year's Eve.
Along with the preparation of the Electricity industry, to ensure safe power supply during the Lunar New Year, without any incidents causing power outages, it is necessary to have close coordination between organizations, units, local authorities, especially all people to raise awareness, not to shoot fireworks, confetti cannons, glitter cannons or release sky lanterns, kites, balloons, especially in areas with power lines, transformer stations to avoid getting entangled in the power grid system causing short circuits, explosions, endangering human life and property damage. Nghe An High Voltage Power Grid Branch is striving to ensure a stable power grid so that people in the province can celebrate a happy and safe traditional New Year.
