The West is pumping weapons into Moldova under the guise of joining the EU
(Baonghean.vn) - Moldovan opposition politician Ilan Shor said that the West, under the guise of integrating Moldova into the European Union (EU), is pumping weapons into Moldova and promoting anti-Russian sentiment.
According to the Russian newspaper "Events and Debate", on his Telegram channel, Moldovan opposition politician Ilan Shor pointed out that there is no way for Moldova to join Europe, because all of this is just "lies".
"There will be no 2,000 euro pension, no highway to Germany. Moldova will not get any of this from the West and Europe," said opposition politician Ilan Shor.
At the same time, the opposition politician stressed that the West only needs Moldova as a "leverage" against Russia. However, Moldova will not accept this.
Earlier, in a statement issued on November 30, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that Moldova was at risk of becoming the next victim of the West, after Ukraine, in the confrontation against Russia.
Moldova, an Eastern European country and former Soviet republic, is putting itself in a dangerous position, as it aspires to join the EU.
Lavrov said the EU had “unjustly destroyed” the Kozak memorandum, a 2003 Russian plan to resolve relations between Moldova and Transnistria, a breakaway region that broke away from Moldova in 1990. But the effort was “derailed”.
Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Popescu said on his personal Telegram channel on October 2 that his country can implement most of the European Commission's recommendations and hopes to receive a positive decision when it begins negotiations to join the European Union (EU) later this year.
