Putin: Do everything necessary to protect the Fatherland from “any potential threat“
President Vladimir Putin affirmed on October 25 that Russia is strictly adhering to its commitments in the field of international security and is open to dialogue with its partners, stressing that Moscow does everything necessary to effectively protect the country.

Speaking at a meeting with senior officers and prosecutors, the Russian leader stressed: "Russia does not threaten any country. We are strictly adhering to our commitments in the field of international security and arms control. We are always open to constructive partnership in the interests of stability. Moreover, it is our duty to do everything necessary to firmly protect the Fatherland, to protect it from any potential threats."
To accomplish this task, according to Mr. Putin, in the coming time, Russia will continue to modernize its army and fleet, focusing on manufacturing and providing the army with promising weapons and techniques, while also focusing on improving the level of professionalism, combat training and educating patriotism for the younger generation...

President Putin also made it clear that the safety of Russian citizens directly depends on the effectiveness and quality of the work of special services and law enforcement agencies. In the first 9 months of this year, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) prevented 26 terrorist-oriented crimes, including 15 terrorist attacks. President Putin stressed the need to act more resolutely and effectively, closely coordinate with the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, and consistently reduce the level of terrorist threats...
On the same day, Mr. Putin discussed with the permanent members of the Russian Federation Security Council issues of strategic stability in the context of the US's intention to withdraw from the Treaty on the Elimination of Shorter and Intermediate-Range Missiles.
