Right from the beginning of the 12th lunar month, Doctor Tran Quoc Khanh (working at Viet Duc Hospital - Hanoi) bought 550 books "The Great Hearts" - a famous literary work by Italian writer Edmondo De Amicis as a New Year gift for children on the occasion of the Mau Tuat New Year.
This book was written in the 19th century with a simple style but contains many profound moral lessons, promoting education and humanity. “Noble Hearts” has been translated into many languages and has been a bedside book for many generations of friends around the world for over a century.
At first, Dr. Khanh only prepared 300 books, but later, seeing the high demand for books, he immediately bought 250 more books and gave them to children in each area. In Hanoi and the surrounding areas, he gave 200 books, Nghe An 150 books and Ha Tinh 200 books. The children in Nghe An and Ha Tinh will have the books brought to their homes to give to them.

Mr. Khanh said: “A French philosopher once said, “Reading good books is like talking to great minds.” Therefore, this Tet holiday, I chose books as lucky money gifts for the children, with the hope of bringing “great minds” to them, nurturing their souls and inspiring them to read.”
This is the second time Dr. Khanh has chosen books as New Year gifts for children. “Last year I also gave books, but in smaller quantities. I am very happy that the children and their parents received these gifts with excitement. Many people living abroad also hope to receive books for their children,” Mr. Khanh shared.
