(Baonghean.vn) - Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 is approaching, in the villages of Western Nghe AnthoseWild flowers were picked by ethnic minority students and beautifully decorated to give to their teachers.

Contribute sticky rice to the teacher

A teacher in Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son) once told us a funny but touching story on November 20th. That year, he had just arrived in this border area to teach and was assigned to be the homeroom teacher of grade 7.

The day the school had just finished holding a rally, the teacher had to go to Muong Xen Town. He returned to school after noon and saw a group of 7 students milling around in front of the classroom door. The teacher asked: “Have you eaten anything yet that you are here?” One student answered honestly: “We haven’t eaten anything yet, teacher. We are so hungry, but we still have to wait for you to come back.”

The teacher opened the door to welcome the students into the chat room. At this time, each student took out a little sticky rice from their bag to give to the class monitor as a gift to the teacher. It was estimated to be more than 1 kg of sticky rice. Surprised, the teacher asked: "Where did you get the sticky rice to bring to me?" The class monitor quickly replied that, before that, the students had agreed with each other that whenever they went to the fields to help their parents harvest rice, they would ask their parents for some to bring back and give as a gift to the teacher.

That special gift moved the teacher to tears. Receiving the gift, he said to his students: “I am hungry now, teacher and student will cook sticky rice together to eat”. So teacher and student had a warm and happy holiday together. That gift he will never forget.

"Because I like to drink tea"

One time, on November 20, we went to Nam Can Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities. This is an area with 100% Mong ethnic students. The holiday was coming so the female students were dressed in traditional costumes. Here, Mr. Dang Dinh Chinh - teacher, Team Leader told us that every year on November 20, students have "special" and surprising gifts to give to their teachers.

On the evening of November 19, the whole school organized a performance, so the students came to school very early. And what was even more interesting was that each student from Lien Son and Tham Hin villages carried a huge bundle of Shan Tuyet tea on their shoulders to give to their teachers. Teacher Chinh smiled and winked at us about the gift. He said that Lien Son and Tham Hin are very good lands for growing Shan Tuyet tea, and every house has tea. Lately, when they have free time, the teachers invite each other to visit the village and conveniently ask for some fresh tea to drink. The students saw this and brought tea to give to their teachers on November 20.

So that whole evening, the dormitory of Nam Can school was filled with bundles of green tea. The principal joked: “This way we can drink tea for a whole month.” I asked a student why they didn’t bring anything else but tea. He innocently replied: “I know you like to drink tea, so I brought you some. But I don’t know what else to give you. Last year I gave you wild flowers, so this year I have to change to tea.”

Teacher Dang Dinh Chinh also told us about the memory of November 20th. There was a parent from Nam Khien village who came to wish the head teacher but did not bring anything. After sitting for a while, he hesitantly took out 2 cans of beer from his pocket and offered it to the teacher. A bit surprised, the teacher still accepted and sat down to drink with him. A while later, another teacher from the next room came over to visit, the parent took out 2 more cans from his pocket. Everyone laughed but it was very happy.

So, the teachers in the highlands on the occasion of November 20th receive great joy. Most precious is the heart of the people and students towards the teachers who bring letters to the people.
