Burkina Faso army declares 'control over the country's destiny'
On October 31, a group of Burkina Faso military officers declared that they "had taken the fate of the country into their hands" and were sealing off the border after the ousted president fled the capital Ouagadougou.
"The people and the armed forces are determined to take the fate of the country into their own hands," Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Yacouba Zida said in a statement from the Guillaume Ouedraogo Barracks.
