The source quoted an army commander, General Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi, as saying that soldiers had retaken the city government building and police headquarters in Beiji.
Although the Iraqi government has not confirmed the above information, General Saadi announced on November 8 that his forces had retaken most of the city.
Beiji fell to IS last summer in a lightning offensive by the jihadist group across northern Iraq and areas west of the Anbar provincial capital./.
