Israel and Russia have had a communication mechanism in place since the fall of 2015, with the aim of helping the two militaries avoid collisions, accidents and other dangerous incidents during operations in Syria.
“During the exercises, we… planned everything that could and could not be coordinated with the Russian side: how we could act without harming their interests in the region, and on the other hand, the scenario, according to which the Russians created the problem,” the article quoted a senior military source as saying.
One such scenario assumes that Russia informs Israel that its actions threaten Russian interests in the region, according to the article.
All Israeli generals participated in this exercise.
