(Baonghean) -The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just held a regular meeting in April to assess the province's socio-economic situation in the month; deploy the implementation of Resolution 11 of the Government on key solutions focusing on curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy, and ensuring social security.

At the meeting, members of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors assessed: Despite many difficulties in inflation, high prices and focusing on preparations for the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term, with the efforts and striving of all levels, sectors, businesses and people, the socio-economic situation in the province has remained stable.

Regarding agricultural production, focus on taking good care of crops, preventing drought and pests. The value of industrial production is estimated at over 797 billion VND, an increase of more than 36% over the same period. Budget revenue in April is estimated at over 3,000 billion VND, equal to 64% of the estimate, an increase of 142% over the same period. The cultural and social sectors continue to make positive changes, social security is taken care of; National defense and security are maintained. In addition, some epidemics are still occurring in livestock.

Some industrial products have low performance, enterprises have difficulty in mobilizing capital for production and business. The implementation of Resolution 11 of the Government is still slow and ineffective. Unsafe labor conditions, waste accumulation, and environmental pollution still occur. Some regulations in the recruitment of officials and civil servants still have many shortcomings. There is still a shortage of preventive medical centers at the district level, the situation of young doctors leaving to work at private medical facilities tends to increase. Many enterprises have tax arrears, affecting the province's budget revenue. The situation of smuggling cattle across the border is complicated.

Concluding the first working day of the meeting, comrade Ho Duc Phoc requested all levels and sectors to focus on overcoming the shortcomings and difficulties in the past time; at the same time, he emphasized the need to direct and organize the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2011-2016 term; pay special attention to ensuring security and order, properly handling complaints, denunciations and recommendations from the people; pay attention to promoting production and business, preventing drought, epidemics, forest fires, and ensuring electricity for production.
